"Millennium baby" Qianqian suddenly passed away at the age of 25, leaving behind endless grief in the hearts of her relatives, friends, colleagues and those who loved her.
Born at 00:00 on January 1, 2000, Qianqian (Jie Yue Tian, Tian Tian) is known as the "Millennium Baby" or "China's First Baby Girl of the 21st Century". She has been the center of attention since her birth, appearing in local newspapers. The word "Qian" in her name given by her parents means "Millennium" in Chinese.
Mrs. Nhac - Thien Thien's mother still remembers clearly December 31, 1999, when she was taken to the hospital in Son Tay to wait to give birth. The new millennium was about to begin, and she hoped her child would be born at the first moment of the year 2000. "There were nine women in the delivery room, all of them wanted to give birth at this special time, but no one could control the time of birth," she recalled.
Finally, Thien Thien was born at exactly 00:00 on January 1, 2000. It was a normal birth, but extremely meaningful. Everyone in the hospital was happy. The local press recorded this memorable moment, and Mrs. Nhac always kept the newspaper as a precious memory.
Thien Thien showed her musical talent very early. At the age of 13, she was able to write lyrics and compose music. Her family was working class but her parents tried their best to invest in their daughter. They gritted their teeth and bought her an expensive piano so that she could pursue her passion.
At the age of 17, Thien Thien entered the piano department of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music and began her professional music career. After graduating, she worked in the music industry in Tianjin and was often busy with work and performances.
Although she had a special birthday, Thien Thien was never proud of it. Her family did not celebrate her birthday lavishly on January 1st. When she entered university, Thien Thien told her friends about her special birthday. When no one believed her, she asked her mother to take a photo of an old newspaper as evidence.
Besides her musical talent, Thien Thien also showed her talent in many other fields such as painting, diving... Such a talented, beautiful and outstanding girl, but her glorious life ended too soon at the age of 25.
In early March this year, Thien Thien had a fever and a stomachache that lasted for a long time. Her friends wanted to take her to the hospital, but she was afraid of bothering everyone, so she endured it for 5 days. On March 8, she decided to take the bus home to Truong Tri, Son Tay alone.
When she returned home that evening, Thien Thien's mother noticed that she was very weak, so she immediately took her daughter to the local hospital. After that, she showed signs of recovery. This somewhat reassured her mother. She even happily joked: "My daughter is so good, even when she was sick, she knew to come visit me."
But unexpectedly, at around 5am on March 9th, Thien Thien suddenly collapsed and fell into a coma. Although she was taken to the intensive care unit, the doctors were unable to save her. That evening, she passed away without being able to say her last words.
The hospital determined that Thien Thien's cause of death was sudden cardiac death. However, her mother could not accept this: "My daughter was always healthy since she was a child, and even had a diving certificate. How could she pass away so suddenly?"
On March 24, Ms. Nhac sadly shared with reporters that her daughter had suffered from a fever for 5 days in Tianjin without going to the doctor. Along with the obituary announcing the sad news, she also shared a photo of the article about the moment her daughter was born on social media. Thien Thien's cousin, Mr. Ton, shared that since she was young, she was beautiful, kind and very filial to the elderly. As a musician, he had the opportunity to perform with the "Millennium Baby" on stage and said that she always worked seriously and was responsible for each performance.
Before her death, Thien Thien was still full of enthusiasm for life. Her wish was to "go out more and explore the world". But unfortunately, before she could realize her dream, her life suddenly ended. The passing of the "Millennium Baby" was not only a great loss to her family but also made many people mourn a young talent who had passed away too soon.
Sudden cardiac death is a natural death caused by a heart-related problem, such as sudden cardiac arrest or a serious heart rhythm disorder. It is like a “time bomb†that can take a life without warning, said Yin Yiqi, a first aid instructor with the American Heart Association’s Heartsaver Program.
Factors such as high-intensity physical activity, underlying cardiovascular disease, and the effects of certain medications can contribute to sudden cardiac death, Yin noted. “It is important for people to develop healthy lifestyle habits, maintain a regular schedule, and have a basic understanding of first aid and health care in daily life,†Yin said.
The instructor encouraged people to learn essential first aid skills, such as CPR and using an automated defibrillator. “Mastering these skills can help us act immediately to save a patient’s life, giving them the best possible chance of survival,†he stressed.
According to the Global Times, in recent years, the Red Cross Society of China has installed more than 64,000 automated external defibrillators in public places, a significant increase from the 11,000 recorded in May 2021. With the aim of reducing the number of deaths due to sudden cardiac death to the lowest level.
According to medical statistics, half of all sudden deaths are caused by heart problems. Sudden cardiac death occurs more often in men than in women and usually occurs between the ages of 30 and 40. It rarely occurs in children.
One of the most common causes of sudden cardiac death is coronary artery disease, accounting for 80% of all cases. Others are due to genetic diseases and cardiomyopathy. In addition, non-ischemic causes of sudden cardiac death are cardiomyopathy, which is associated with alcoholism, obesity, and fibrosis.
