At around 12:30 noon the same day, in the central area of District 1, people suddenly discovered smoke and fire breaking out from the telecommunication cable system on the electric pole in front of 74-76 Nguyen Cong Tru Street. By the evening of the same day, Ho Chi Minh City continued to face another fire. At around 8pm, a fire broke out on the rooftop of the Silverland Sil Hotel on Thai Van Lung Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1. Mr. Maniam (Indian nationality), a guest staying on the 8th floor, right below the rooftop, shared with the media that at around 8:00 p.m., he heard the staff knocking on the door, requesting an immediate evacuation. When he opened the door, he saw smoke coming from the upper floor and quickly ran down the stairs with the entire hotel to escape safely.
At the scene, police quickly used a ladder truck to approach the fire area and sprayed water inside to put out the fire. By 8:30 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control. Local leaders said that the initial cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit from a clothes dryer on the top floor.
