Thai Vinh: The engineer loves to sing, temporarily put everything aside according to Binh Tinh to take care of the Cai Luong troupe

Up to now, Thai Vinh has only officially followed the professional acting profession for 10 years, but he has built a solid name in the hearts of the audience of Cai Luong Tuong Co fans.

The engineer asked the boss to supervise the project to go singing

Artist Thai Vinh's real name is Thai Quang Vinh, born in a family with a tradition of singing Boi. In the 1980s, his parents opened an ancient tuong troupe, naming their son Thai Vinh for the troupe. As a child of the family, Thai Vinh did not follow his parents' career. In 2007, he graduated from the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City majored in construction and then went to work as an engineer.

"Yen fate" has been a civil engineer for 8 years, Thai Vinh still does not end his debt to singing. When he was in school, he was almost present in the artistic activities of the Youth Union and school as well as participating in small competitions. At that time, he mainly sang light music, Red music, but did not think he would sing Cai Luong. Until going to work, Thai Vinh still occasionally sings to support his parents' singing.

Like Binh Tinh, Thai Vinh's parents are both artists, but it is often difficult to teach their children a profession, so they sent him to follow Artist Xuan Quang to learn dance. Every month, he studied 2 sessions, each session was only 2 hours to take advantage of the company's lunch break.

Around 2013, Thai Vinh began to go to amateur singing, every time he got off work, he ran to sing even though he didn't have the time to travel. Thai Vinh loves singing so much that one day when he was going to the project, he called his boss, asked him to manage and supervise the project on his behalf, and then asked for 3 days off... singing. The boss agreed, he loaded his things on his motorbike and ran to perform in the province, exactly 3 days later he returned to work.

"The engineering profession is very dry, every day I only know iron and steel, concrete, hanging around with the team of workers and contractors. The engineer went to the project in the rain and sun and the artist went on stage dressed gorgeously, the two jobs were opposite, but I adapted quickly. In the past, everyone called me why I was an engineer and went to work but it was too white. I'm like that now, no matter how much the sun is, it's not black," Thai Vinh teased.

Not long after falling in love with the stage, one day Thai Vinh met Binh Tinh and a turning point began to appear. In 2015, when he returned to the Huynh Long troupe and was paired to perform with the female artist, he quickly created a buzz. As a singer, Thai Vinh understands that he has to work many times harder than other artists from the profession. Joining the troupe, he was adopted by the composer Bach Mai and dedicated to teaching his experience. Not only relying on the instructions of his seniors, Thai Vinh also actively attended methodical Cai Luong training classes, and at the same time practiced seriously with Binh Tinh.

He shared: "As a child of the family, I grew up in an ancient singing environment, so when I followed the profession, I caught up with everything very quickly. I idolized Vu Linh and Vu Luan, watched most of their performance videos and learned from them. I also learned a lot from Binh Tinh. On stage, we practiced every step, gesture, singing; When he got home, he continued to make video calls to practice singing, discussing the psychology of the characters. I don't practice every day for a long time, but if I have free time, I can practice singing all day. I invested in a machine, recorded it myself and listened to it again to know where I couldn't sing. I joined the profession very late, 10 years is nothing compared to a theater artist. But I made so much effort to keep up with Binh Tinh."

Looking back on the journey, Thai Vinh admitted that the salary of a former engineer was much higher than singing. However, he did that job only with the mindset of making money, not devoting his passion to the stage like he does now. He remembers the time when he was singing, paying out of his own pocket to take care of costumes, travel expenses, and accommodation, while the cash was not worth much, but he was still passionate about standing on stage. Although he has now become an artist, Thai Vinh has not completely abandoned his old profession. He only limited his work to work and switched to receiving house designs to have a more fulfilling time with Cai Luong.

For me, Thai Vinh is a dual brother who respects the top and the bottom, is very passionate about the profession and always works hard to learn. A young artist who loves his profession like that has no reason why the organization does not treat him...".

Bringing Cai Luong into schools

Thai Vinh was adopted by the composer Bach Mai, supporting the leader of the Binh Tinh troupe to rebuild the Huynh Long troupe. At first, the troupe was too difficult, the 2 people often spent money out of pocket to cover the activity.

As the troupe leader and deputy deputy, the trio sells tickets for each performance by themselves. Thai Vinh confided: "We only ask for losses as little as possible, breaking even, but making a profit is not. A well-invested play averages more than 100 million VND, excluding costumes. We pay out of pocket, sometimes in installments, to sew costumes, but never wear old clothes on stage again. Even if we sell out of tickets, we will only compensate for 2/3 of the cost, the rest must be thanks to sponsors and benefactors."

Of course, Huynh Long's troupe has the advantage of the available name and is not pressured to spend on the script. Currently, Ho Quang's Cai Luong troupe almost belongs to the Huynh Long troupe (composer Bach Mai) and the Minh To troupe (the late People's Artist Thanh Tong), anyone who wants to sing must go through these two troupes.

"Binh Tinh is managing a huge inheritance of works and collecting royalties on behalf of Mai's mother. My mother has hundreds of songs, singing all her life. Mai's mother said: "I have nothing for you, only tuong. When my mother dies, I will leave it for you to use, try to promote them."

When it was too poor, the Huynh Long troupe used to have to sell the copyright of the videos of the work. After a while, Thai Vinh decided not to sell anymore. He set up his own channel for the troupe, recorded it and then set it up himself to post videos of the troupe's performances.

Binh Tinh and Thai Vinh have just rebuilt the Huynh Long troupe and planned to bring Cai Luong into schools. The couple connected with director Thanh Hiep to set up a theater, perform at the school or propose to students to see Ho Quang Cai Luong as an extracurricular activity.
