TBT To Lam entered the heart of the Hue flood, directly visited and gave 100 billion VND in relief

During a business trip to Hue City after the historic rain and flood, General Secretary To Lam directly visited the flood-centered area of Quang Dien to visit, gave gifts to the people, gave support of 100 billion VND and 200 tons of rice, and encouraged people to stabilize their lives soon.

On November 2, General Secretary To Lam made a special business trip to Hue City, which is struggling to overcome the heavy consequences of the historic rain and flood. The visit shows the deep concern of the Party and State for the people of the Central region, especially those households who have suffered heavy losses in recent years.

Accompanying the General Secretary were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Chief of the Party Central Office Pham Gia Tuc, Vice Chairman - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Minister of National Defense Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, and leaders of Hue City, Military Region 4 and representatives of central departments and branches.

In Quang Dien commune, one of the most serious flooding centers of Hue, General Secretary To Lam got off a canoe and moved into Khuong Pho Dong village – an area isolated by flood water for many days. Here, he wholeheartedly asked about life, the situation of damage, and listened to people sharing difficulties after the fierce natural disaster.

The General Secretary expressed his deep sympathy for the losses suffered by the people. He affirmed that the Party, the State, socio-political organizations and people across the country always look towards the Central region with the spirit of "good leaves cover torn leaves", ready to join hands to support people to overcome this difficult period soon.

During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the urgent requirement to ensure the safety of people's lives and lives, especially in areas that are still deeply flooded or divided. He directed the functional forces not to let any households be isolated or lack food, water and necessities without timely access to relief.

"The Central region has suffered a lot of suffering due to natural disasters. This is the time when the whole country needs to unite, share, and work together to help people restore normal life," said the General Secretary.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party and the State, General Secretary To Lam handed over 100 billion VND and 200 tons of rice to the Party Committee, the government and the people of Hue City, in order to contribute to stabilizing life and socio-economic recovery after rains and floods. In addition, he also handed over 45 gifts to households with extremely difficult circumstances and were severely damaged in the recent flood.

Accompanying the delegation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, also gave 20 billion VND to help the people of Hue overcome the consequences of natural disasters and rebuild their lives.

According to a quick report of the People's Committee of Hue City, as of November 1, the locality still has 8/40 communes and wards flooded with an average water level of 0.3 – 0.5m, some places are flooded deeper than 0.7m. Some areas such as Quang Dien, Phong Dinh, Hoa Chau, Phu Ho... are still divided, people have to move by boat to go back and forth.

Currently, the local government is urgently reviewing the damage, and at the same time deploying emergency support packages, ensuring that all people have access to relief.

Timely material and spiritual support is expected to help Hue people soon overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, restore production and rebuild their homeland after the historic floods.
