Thomas Edison once said that geniuses are those who have 1% genius and 99% effort. So, behind a successful person, company or product, courage, perseverance always play a very important role.
If you feel like you've tried a lot but still haven't been rich or successful, then try looking at this homeless guy Taihei Kobayashi. Perhaps the days of struggling living on the streets of Tokyo have trained Taihei Kobayashi to have a resilient spirit, which has become a stepping stone to bring him to admirable success.
When it comes to inspirational success stories in life, it is impossible not to mention Taihei Kobayashi. Experiencing a turbulent, helpless adolescence, Kobayashi has risen above all to become one of the most promising Asian entrepreneurs today, holding the technology company Sun* (pronounced Sun). -Asterisk) is worth up to 1 billion USD.
Dropout for passion Taihei Kobayashi was born in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan. As a child, he was considered a genius when he developed high levels of mathematical and reasoning skills. The expectations of Kobayashi's parents led to Kobayashi's admission to Waseda Jitsugyo, one of the most famous universities in Japan. But while studying, he decided to quit his job for a rather "banana" personal reason...
And that decision ultimately cost Kobayashi by being kicked out of the house by her parents ... before the age of 20.
After all, leaving a prestigious university to enjoy an instinctive life can be a disastrous decision for any young man. The temptation of alcohol and drugs can easily destroy anyone's life in an instant. Same goes for Kobayashi, after being kicked out of his house, he has to deal with these problems while wandering the streets of Tokyo every day.
Fortunately for Kobayashi then, evil was less of a concern than finding a safe and cozy place to sleep.
As mentioned above, Kobayashi's reason for dropping out of school is quite "banana" because it is mainly related to his passion for music. His band regularly held gigs around the city but it was never as successful as he envisioned it to be. Kobayashi is a musician by day and a homeless man by night, piling up cardboard boxes to keep himself warm on cold winter nights around Tokyo's Shinjuku and Shibuya districts.
"There was a time when the cold winter made everything feel like hell," Kobayashi recalled in an interview. But, even in the worst of times, Kobayashi kept her cool and found a life-changing opportunity.
Surely anyone who has lived in Tokyo knows how cold the winter is here, when the average nightly temperature is only about 2-3oC. And in the midst of those bone-chilling colds, young Kobayashi still had to be alone, trying to survive because he was no longer protected by his family.
Although things didn't go well for Kobayashi right away, he had another chance to achieve success. A manager at a live music club, who often found Kobayashi struggling to find suitable accommodation, allowed him to stay at the club, on the condition that he would work full-time for them. . The 19-year-old Kobayashi, who was struggling at the time, immediately accepted the offer, and remained with the club for six years.
After leaving the club, Kobayashi decided to look for a new path. He made money selling music online and ended up working as a software engineer in a small tech company.
Kobayashi shared that he found the job after consulting a lot of job advertisements and immediately applied because it doesn't require any qualifications and experience. All it took was a test of math, logic, and IQ, and Kobayashi easily passed each one in turn.
Perhaps Kobayashi himself did not expect that this event was the stepping stone for him to debut Sun* ( Sun-Asterisk) a few years later.
From a young age, Kobayashi showed an innate ability to quickly learn new things. So, when trained as a software engineer, it didn't take long for him to seize the opportunity even with a concept as vast and complex as software engineering.
At the company, he was trained by Makoto Hirai, who later co-founded Sun* with Kobayashi (Sun-Asterisk).
Realizing that a software engineer could use programming skills to build efficient and profitable business models, Kobayashi and Hirai decided to start their own company. In 2012, Kobayashi came to Vietnam to recruit young engineers into its team. A year later, he returned to Japan and co-founded Framgia Inc. along with Hirai, Takuya Umeda and Yusuke Hattori. The company was later renamed Sun* (Sun-Asterisk) in 2019.
The Sun* Company (Sun-Asterisk) operates similarly to Silicon Valley consulting firms - assisting startups and other companies in developing new products and services. The company also helps small businesses plan to expand their business into other industries. Kobayashi currently has more than 70 customers, among them are big names like Japanese technology giant Softbank - a brand that has been present in the global economy for nearly 30 years. That is enough to demonstrate how good the business in Kobayashi's hands is.
Not satisfied with the results achieved, Kobayashi and his associates decided to issue shares to Sun* (Sun-Asterisk) to raise more capital and penetrate more into the market. In September 2020, after penetrating a potential new market, shares of Sun* (Sun-Asterisk) surged in September with the company's market capitalization reaching 1.4 billion USD.
Although the stock fell a month later, the company's valuation is still listed at $1 billion. Along with that, the number of employees at the Vietnam facility has increased to 1,300, while the staff at the headquarters in Tokyo has increased to 130. The young man who used to wander is now the CEO of a company with a team. staff up to thousands of people.
He once said, "Living and working in Vietnam, I am gradually becoming aware of how to make the world around me a better place. And I know that I need the companionship of young people here, no It's not that we can change the world, it's that we have to change the world."
Taihei Kobayashi started his success story with many hardships and tears. But in the end, he overcame it all thanks to his strong will and determination to the end, to create a business with top prospects on the continent. Kobayashi's story is a strong inspiration for young people struggling to make a living on every street of Japan. In the most ironic of adversities, there will always be a glimmer of hope to embrace.
