Although sea bugs have a fancy shape and attract the curiosity of many people, the price of this seafood makes it not easy for everyone to own. According to professional fishermen, catching sea bugs is not simple because they live on the bottom of the deep sea. To be able to catch them, fishermen must use specialized equipment and move away from the shore. This has made the price of sea bugs always at a high level, usually ranging from 1,500,000 to 1,800,000 VND/kg at the beginning of the season. At the end of the season, the price can increase to 2,500,000 VND/kg, making this dish a "specialty of the rich" that even wealthy families find difficult to afford.
In the past, sea bugs used to cost only a few tens of thousands of VND per kg, but over time, the rarity and difficulty in catching have pushed up the price. In Vietnam, this seafood can only be found in certain waters such as Khanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, and Phu Yen.
Nutritional benefits of sea bugs for pregnant women
More than just a luxury dish, sea bugs also offer many significant nutritional benefits for pregnant women. With an abundant content of protein, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12, sea bugs are a valuable source of nutrition to help supplement nutrients for pregnant women and fetuses. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pregnant women can eat seafood in moderation, 2-3 servings per week, provided they choose low-mercury seafood such as sea bugs.

The manifestations of seafood allergies are very diverse and often occur very quickly. Mild manifestations may include urticaria, itching, and an unpleasant hangover, usually after a few hours the symptoms will "dive away".
There are also severe cases with neurological manifestations such as headaches, dizziness, fainting, and coma. Especially anaphylaxis when there is cardiovascular collapse with shock symptoms such as cold skin, small rapid pulse, purple streaks, and low blood pressure.
"The level of allergy does not depend on the amount of food eaten more or less, but depends on the level of sensitivity of each person. Therefore, when seeing that the patient has suspicious symptoms due to food allergy or seafood allergy, it is necessary to induce vomiting for the patient and take them to the nearest hospital or medical facility," Ms. Lam advised.
Doctors at Hung Vuong General Hospital recommend that if you have a history of reacting to any food, you need to avoid it, in case of allergies.
