Mr. Lung Lek Wongjaiya is 85 years old and lives in Koh Pho, Phanasnikhom District, Chon Buri Province, Thailand. This father has not seen or contacted his son for the past 10 years.
Because he missed his son so much, even though he was blind in his right eye, Mr. Lung Lek was determined to go to Nakhon Ratchasima city, nearly 300km away from home, to find his son, hoping to reunite. His luggage consisted of only a little food, a set of clothes, a walking stick and enough change to catch a bus.
When he arrived, Lung Lek went to the address his son had texted him. Only then did he learn that his son had moved away a long time ago. Despite asking the neighbors, Lung Lek still had no clue about his sonâs whereabouts. He also spent all his savings on the bus to the city, leaving him with only 8 baht (about 6,000 VND) in his pocket. With no other choice, the poor old man was forced to walk a long way back home.
During the 14-day journey, Lung Lek had to live in miserable conditions, lacking water and food. His completely blind right eye also made it difficult for him to move. He rested wherever he could along the way, such as pagodas, porches of houses, parks, etc.
After learning of the old man's plight, many strangers brought him food and water. Some even supported him with travel expenses and accommodation. Their kindness and generosity gave the 85-year-old man much motivation on his journey back. "Many kind people, upon learning of my situation, gave me food and water. Some even gave me a change of clothes and a jacket to keep me warm," Lung Lek recounted.
Knowing Lung Lekâs difficult situation, a benefactor offered to help by donating a bus ticket so that he could return home as soon as possible. The bus owner also assured that he would take the old man home safely. Even after Lung Lek returned home, the search for information about his son continued. Several relevant authorities are involved to help him find his son soon.
One particularly kind local, upon meeting Lung Lek near a temple, gave him soy milk, 20 baht and a lunch box to help him on his journey. These acts of generosity were significant, as Lung Lekâs determination to see his son again helped him move forward.
It can be seen that even when children grow up, parents still keep an eye on their children. Previously, on June 9, on a street in Lang Trung district, Nam Sung city (Sichuan, China), Ms. Thai Huu Tu, from Van Duong (Chongqing), tapped a female sanitation worker on the shoulder to ask for directions. She was looking for her daughter who had been missing for 24 years.
"Mom, are you looking for someone? Looking for Ho Quan?".
"Who are you? Why do you call me mom?"
"I am Ho Quan, the daughter you are looking for!".
Indeed! This cleaning lady is the daughter that Mrs. Thai has been searching for all this time, lost for 24 years.
In 1999, with the help of an acquaintance, the eldest daughter Hu Jun (23 years old) went to work for a jewelry factory in Yiwu (Zhejiang). Before Hu Jun left, Mrs. Thai slipped her daughter 500 yuan (more than 1.7 million VND) and a piece of paper with the number of a public phone near her house.
Upon arrival, Ho Quan called his mother to report that he was safe. But later, the factory moved and the small piece of paper with the contact phone number was also lost. From then on, Mrs. Thai officially lost contact with her daughter.
On May 6, Thai Huu Tu went to Lang Trung (Nan Sung, Sichuan) to look for her daughter Ho Quan. Taking a bus to Chengdu, she immediately went to the police station to report the disappearance, then went to a local TV station to ask for help in posting an advertisement to find her relatives.
