Nguyen Vu is a versatile artist of Vietnamese showbiz when operating in many different roles such as: singer, actor, MC and even TV judge. Each field in which Nguyen Vu participates leaves a special impression on the audience.
It is known that Nguyen Vu once had a successful music career with hi.t songs, becoming a very popular name for the audience in the late 1990s - early 2000s.
In a recent program, male singer Nguyen Vu had the opportunity to open up about his singing career. The singer born in 1975 said: "I started participating in mobile theater troupes from 1995 to 1996. At that time, the whole troupe including singers, musicians, people in charge of sound and lighting all went with a 45-seater bus and moved from about 3-4 am.
On the bus, each person brings bread, sticky rice or simple dishes to fight hunger because it takes a lot of time to move from Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City to the performance venue.
If you currently go from Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho is only about a few hours, but in the past, it could last up to half a day because the roads were not developed, even bridges had not been built and had to take a ferry, so it took a lot of time.
After arriving, the sound and light parts were staged. I often say that these performances are 'chicken coop singing' because the stage is often fenced off with B40 nets. The box office is located outside to sell tickets, while the artists prepare behind the scenes."
Nguyen Vu continued to talk about the difficulties of singing at that time: "At that time, there were no modern hotels, except for big cities like Can Tho, and the suburbs had no hotels at all.
Therefore, in remote places where there are no motels or hotels, we artists often ask to stay in people's houses or pagodas, communal houses, and shrines to use water, light and makeup. Sometimes we even take advantage of the stage chicken wings to prepare costumes.
At that time, one was to go to people's houses to ask for a bucket of water to wash their faces, ask for a lamp to put on makeup, or go to a pagoda or communal house to ask for lights and water, otherwise just prepare behind the stage or even chicken wings, taking advantage of the audience when they were not ready. Everything happened very rudimentary and temporary.
But because of that, everyone's feelings are very attached to each other, like a big family, because from star singers, young singers or musicians, they all travel in the same car.
The mobile stage usually performs on weekends and stays at each venue for about two days. At that time, the mobile theater audience was very large because this was an opportunity for everyone to meet and exchange with artists. Because at that time, technology was not yet developed, audiences in the countryside could only listen to music and interact with artists through letters, radio, and black and white television. Even many houses do not even have televisions, so the mobile stage is an opportunity for the audience to meet idol artists.
At this time, although my name was not widely known, it was known to many people when appearing on television and newspapers.
I often send replies to fans with an autographed photo as a way of expressing affection and thanks. These photos are cherished and preserved by rural audiences by pasting them on the walls.
In the golden ag.e of mobile theater, there were many famous singing troupes such as the Night Star troupe, the Duy Ngoc troupe, the Minh Dung troupe and different provincial troupes.
Although at that time the stage was not as grand and modern as now, the microphone had to be plugged in and could be damaged 2-3 times, but for me, this was an extremely glorious period.
A memorable memory during my traveling stage performance was that time I danced so much that the microphone cord was wrapped around the only light on stage. Because I was performing, I jerked it out hard, causing the device to break. As a result, I was cut off from the sho.w, not invited to sing for about 3 months because of breaking the troupe's clothes."
Nguyen Vu was born in 1975, has been singing since the 1990s. He is famous for many hits such as The River of Love, Commemorative Street Corner.
