Recently, singer Ho Van Cuong was present at the launching ceremony of Nhu Quynh's new music project and attracted everyone's attention with his trembling and tense gestures. After that, the male singer shared that he had a fear of crowds.
Accordingly, 8 years ago, Ho Van Cuong was a "phenomenon" in the Vietnamese music industry when a 13-year-old boy in the West at that time conquered the audience with his warm and sweet voice. Thanks to the support of the late artist Phi Nhung, the singer born in 2003 came closer to the public, becoming more and more loved through the lyrical music of her hometown. But since the death of his adoptive mother, Cuong's life has changed a lot. Currently, he is renting a hostel, living with his biological parents in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the age of 21, the thin, black guy has grown up every year, has a tall and bright appearance, but there is still a lot of timidity and apprehension even though he has been singing for many years. Recently, the champion of Vietnam Idol Kids 2016 appeared as a guest in the liveshow of famous singer Nhu Quynh, which will be held in January 2025 at Hoa Binh Theater. Here, he shared a lot about the changes of himself and his family.
First, he revealed that even though he was standing on a large and small stage, he was still afraid of the crowd: "I have a phobia of the crowd, even though I have performed in many big shows, with a large audience below, I am still afraid. This has been around since I started in showbiz.
I want to share in a more private space, and in a crowded place like the one I sat with Ms. Nhu Quynh earlier, I felt scared.
Sitting on the stage just now, I was very nervous. This is the first time I have participated in a press conference with many artists, brothers and sisters, journalists, and reporters. So it was inevitable but the moment I had a slight joint.
Previously, I had never had the opportunity to cooperate with Ms. Nhu Quynh. About a week ago, I received an invitation from her team. I was confused because I didn't know if she really invited me. After being reconfirmed, I agreed.
Previously, I had not had the opportunity to cooperate, so I had not had a moment to chat with her, ask her about her musical experience.
I think, any music show has its own pressure. I heard Ms. Nhu Quynh share about her enthusiasm for this show, so I felt pressure. I don't know if I will do well in this show to be worthy of your enthusiasm for the show."
When he went to school, he also had a similar feeling of fear. Ho Van Cuong opened his heart: "I rarely talk to you. It is not because I show my attitude, but because I myself suffer from crowd phobia, which is very difficult to communicate at close distances. When I go on a show, meet people at a distance, I feel better, but when I'm close, I'm very nervous. I think this disease has been around since I started participating in showbiz, since I had my first award. Although I have tried to improve and share openly, I can only talk easier in a space with few people. I am almost easy to talk to, open up to a few close friends who are attached to work."
Regarding the work after leaving Phi Nhung's adoptive mother, Ho Van Cuong shared: "Regarding receiving the current show, there is an older sister who stands up to receive the show for me. She is a long-time fan of mine, and she is from the same hometown, so she helps me with many things at work.
Currently, I still perform, it's just that the frequency will be less than before, about 2-3 shows/month. Part of me was afraid of bringing boredom to the audience because I didn't really have anything new.
Importantly, I am currently a final student majoring in marketing and am still prioritizing my studies. I only accept shows most weekends or when I am really free. I also feel lucky because the school and teachers still create conditions and do not put pressure on me to balance studying and performing."
Regarding the decision to invite Ho Van Cuong despite many objections from the public, Nhu Quynh said: "I hope that young artists have the opportunity to work comfortably, not be constrained and imposed. I also want young people to have space to develop and shine with their talents.
As for what's inside life, I think Ho Van Cuong will know what he wants, does, and thinks. I just hope that in this playground Ho Van Cuong will shine and prove his talent. Let's prove to the audience and Cuong's fans that you are a talented and moral child. I hope Ho Van Cuong can prove his morality."
