The village of Mafi Dove, in southern Ghana, is home to about 5,000 people. The special thing is that almost no one was born in this village and when they died, they were buried in another place.
This taboo was introduced in the belief that giving birth in the village was a serious insult to the gods. Therefore, when pregnant women are due to give birth, they have to migrate to neighboring communities to give birth before returning.
There are many cases where pregnant women have had extremely painful labor but still have to wait to be transferred before giving birth.
Like many other Ghanaian communities, people in Mafi Dove village still maintain many customs and traditions from ancient times, no matter how the outside society has developed.
In addition to the strange prohibition against having children in the village, Mafi also forbids people from raising animals. Except for animals flying in the sky, almost no one finds any animals raised on the ground.
What's interesting is that people can bring animals from other places to Mafi Dove village to eat, but they are not allowed to raise them. People here mainly make a living from farming.
The third taboo is the prohibition of burial. Due to limited land area, people in Mafi Dove village are not allowed to bury in the village. When someone dies, the family has to take them to neighboring villages for burial.
It is known that the person who set up the above three taboos was the founder of Mafi Dove village - a hunter named Togbe Gbewofa Akiti.
When Togbe first set foot on this land, a voice rang out and told him that this was a sacred place. If Mr. Togbe and his people want to survive here, they must follow three rules: No raising animals, no burial, and no birth.
However, today, many women have spoken out to demand the right to give birth in the village because moving a pregnant woman far away is very dangerous and can easily cause many complications. However, the elders in the village still maintain their opinion, saying that giving birth in the village is unclean, affects the gods, and will make people's lives no longer peaceful.
To resolve this conflict, a number of maternity clinics have been opened on the outskirts of the village to help women give birth closer to home, avoiding unnecessary risks.
Not only Mafi Dove, there are many strange villages in the world.
The village only gives birth to girls every 9 years
Miejsce Odrzanskie, a small village in southern Poland, near the Czech Republic border, has not welcomed a male member into the world for 9 years.
No one knows why, but couples in Miejsce Odrzanskie rarely have sons. There have been at least 300 babies born, but they are all female and the village residents cannot remember how long it has been since they heard the baby boy cry.
Even the volunteer fire department members in the village are mostly female. Women in the village said they really wanted to have a boy, but considering the village's history, the chances of successfully giving birth to a boy were extremely small.
Until the mystery is solved, village chief Rajmund Frischko - who also has two daughters, says he will reward any parent who gives birth to the first boy to Miejsce Odrzanskie.
The village is full of beautiful girls
The village of Noiva do Cordeiro is nestled in Belo Vale, a beautiful valley in the north of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), with scattered fields of tangerines, bananas and bright yellow flower trees.
But the eye-catching scenery in Noiva do Cordeiro is not what attracts the attention of tourists, but the residents living in that village. Or more specifically, the women in the village.
Most of the village residents are female and they have beautiful beauty. What's more, many people are single and looking for love.
The village was founded by a woman named Maria Senhorinha de Lima. Maria settled here when she was accused of adultery and exiled from her church and home in 1891.
Today, there are still some men in the village, but they spend their weeks working as miners or in the nearest big city. The girls said they missed the men very much and always looked forward to the weekend when the men returned.
The village spent 2,000 Euros to decode strange characters on a 230-year-old stone slab
Plougastel, a small village in the Brittany region of France, announced a prize worth 2,000 Euros (more than 52 million VND) to anyone who can decode the words engraved on a 230-year-old stone slab.
Discovered just a few years ago, the mysterious rock is hidden in a cove and can only be accessed at low tide. On the rock there are a total of 20 handwritten lines in an unfamiliar language that no one can decipher along with 2 years engraved: 1786 and 1787. There is also a carving of a ship with sad wings, rudder and a heart used for offerings.
Many linguists and archaeologists have been invited to register to participate in the challenge. The deadline to submit entries for this unusual declassification challenge is November 2019. A panel of experts will then choose the most reasonable explanation and the winner of the 2,000 Euro prize.
