Around the world, many places are considered on absolute lists that are forbidden to be approached by strangers or forbidden to open, even a part of the public is unaware of the existence of these places.
Menwith Hill (England)
In some rare photographs of Menwith Hill, the area known as the Royal Air Force Menwith (RAFM) looks like a sci-fi movie scene with a large number of golf ball-shaped buildings juxtaposed on the hill.
The common feature of these buildings is the white dome and the enclosed structure, which cannot be observed inside.
The strange shape is not the most mysterious thing about this place. The RAFM has been in service since 1954, operated by the British War Commission. The area played an important role during the Cold War, serving as a place to monitor Soviet activities.
But the work of the 1,205 employees beneath these white domes remains shrouded in mystery. According to many rumors, RAFM is the world's largest electronic monitoring station and a gathering ground for intelligence from both Britain and the United States. The RAFM is also believed to be closely linked to ECHELON, the global espionage system also known as the Five Eyes with the participation of 5 countries USA, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. ECHELON was established in the late 60s of the last century to monitor contacts between the Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc countries during the Cold War. A doctor claimed in 2012 that people working in the area "engaged in drone strikes." although this has never been confirmed.
Apocalypse Room Seed Vault (Norway)
Vaults that store all kinds of necessities in case the apocalypse comes and save humanity from extinction do not only appear on the Hollywood big screen. In real life, a plan to prepare if a natural disaster suddenly hits Earth one day is also implemented.
Located between the Arctic and Norway in a sandstone mountain on Spitsbergen, the Svalbard Global Grain Vault is the world's most heavily guarded seed bank. The entrance to the tunnel is open, can be seen from the ground and the inside is built deep into the ice mountain, more than 100m above sea level.
Every seed that exists on Earth is stored inside the Svalbard vault in Norway with a capacity of 250 million seeds.
Opened in 2008, the Svalbard vault is described as "the ultimate insurance policy for the world's food supply, offering options for future generations to overcome the challenges of climate change and population growth." The location of the Svalbard vault is carefully selected to ensure the survival of seeds even when the most terrible natural disasters occur. The cellar is covered in natural permafrost, which means that the seeds will be frozen permanently.
North Sentinel Island (India)
The Indian government has imposed an absolute ban on people in the country as well as foreigners from moving to North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal, but given the island's reputation, perhaps no one wants to set foot there. The island is home to the Sentinelese people, a tribe known for their violent behavior and isolation, refusing all contact with the outside world.
Travel to the island has been banned since 1956. The ban was only relaxed in 2018, giving researchers access to the island area but risking a lot of danger.
Padmanabhaswamy Temple
As an ancient temple in India, Padmanabhaswamy temple is associated with the illusory religion of this country. The most famous thing about it is the huge treasure hidden inside.
The controversy surrounding the temple concerns not only the value of the treasure, but also its association with ancient gods. Therefore, no one knows for sure who really deserves the treasure of the gods, and this huge vault will forever be kept hidden here.
Many people have also voluntarily protected the temple so that its treasures are never opened and looted, ensuring the sacredness and value of the temple remains intact.
Egyptian archive corridor
There are many reasons that ancient relics such as the Sphinx in Egypt were never allowed to be dug and dissected, no matter how great their historical value. Archaeologists have not touched a layer of architecture hidden beneath this colossal statue, which is known as the Archives Corridor.
This mysterious area was first discovered by archaeologists in Tutankhamun's tomb, who realized there were several large caves, which appeared to be natural caves, located just below the Sphinx.
To avoid people trying to search the area to prove it was real, archaeologists and the Egyptian government blocked all investigations and searches for the Sphinx. Whether it exists or not, we probably never know.
