On November 24, Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital recorded nearly 30 cases of Whitmore disease, of which, since mid-October alone, the hospital has recorded 24 cases. Of them, four died.

Whitmore is an infectious disease that is difficult to detect because it is easily confused with other diseases. The disease is usually transmitted by blood. Those who come into contact with mud and have a scratch wound are often at high risk of contracting this bacteria. According to doctors, among the patients who have been treated at the hospital with the disease, all cases have wounds on their bodies and have been exposed to mud and do not have protective gear.
