Bap and her mother (Thu Hoa and Minh Hai, from Ninh Thuan) became widely known after sharing their journey fightin.g cancer. In recent days, the current situation of Bap and Thu Hoa continues to attract attention.
On social networks, there have been many questions about Bap's treatment process as well as the support from everyone in the past time. The keyword "bab.y Bap today" is a popular search on TikTok. With the attention from netizens, Bap's mother has made new moves and revealed her son's current health status.
In the past 2 days, Bap's mother has not shared any pictures of her son, even though she used to update quite frequently, almost every day.
On the afternoon and evening of February 23, Thu Hoa posted a clip about her family in the countryside and confided that she missed home and wanted to go home: "Home is the most peaceful place, where we can be together in the morning and at night, close to our stepfather, stepmother and the whole family", "I want to go back to my parents, the scenery of my hometown is so beautiful. This place is full of worries and sadness, Bap and I miss home so much".
On the morning of February 24, Thu Hoa posted a photo of a bowl of porridge and many syringes of medicine believed to be Bap's and wrote: "Have you had breakfast yet?". In the comments section, when a relative asked about Bap's health, Thu Hoa said: "Yes, I'm fine."
Previously, Bap's mother limited comments on TikTok and Facebook, allowing only friends to comment. The most recent clip that still allowed comments was posted on February 19. However, this is not Bap's latest update but an old clip.
Under clips from February 19 and earlier, netizens left questions about bab.y Bap's current situation, hoping to see new images of the bab.y.
Since February 19, Thu Hoa has not posted a clip with bab.y Bap on TikTok but has still posted pictures of her son on Facebook. She also added that because Bap is in the PICU (intensive care unit for children), she cannot livestream. She hopes everyone will wait until Bap can return to the pediatrics department so that the mother and son can continue to broadcast.
On February 22, Bap's mother posted a photo of her son on Facebook and updated optimistically: "Every day that passes is a day that you are fightin.g strongly against this disease. Keep it up, Bap! You have done very well, just a little bit more and we will win."
In addition, the online community is fiercely debating whether Tiktoker Pham Thoai needs a statement of more than 16.7 billion VND donated to bab.y Bap. Previously, on November 4, 2024, Tiktoker Pham Thoai posted an article "Open letter for help", calling for donations because bab.y Bap was in critical condition and urgently needed 6-7 billion VND for treatment in China. He said he used a technology application called Thien Nguyen to raise funds, allowing people to check transactions like online statements.
Many social media users, especially those who donated mone.y to support Bap and her son, want to know how their mone.y is going. In another development, after repeatedly refusing to update Bap's situation, the mother has made the public skeptical. When asked about the statement of the billion-dong donation, she said that Pham Thoai's inspection was enough. She even challenged that this was a voluntary donation, no one was forced, so there was no need to explain.
As for Pham Thoai, regardless of the purpose of the charity appeal, the individual calling for donations must still publicly and transparently disclose the amount of mone.y received. In the case of appeals to support patients with serious illnesses, Clause 2, Article 23 of Decree 93/2021 stipulates that "Individuals must fully summarize information on the results of receiving and using voluntary contributions to support patients with serious illnesses and make it public in the media".
In this case, because he called for donations through Pham Thoai's bank account, he had many ways to publicize the information of his supporters, such as making a list of names, amounts, and donation times, or asking the bank to provide an account statement. However, to ensure transparency and objectivity, a bank statement would be more reliable than a list made by an individual.
Article 5 of Decree 93 clearly stipulates prohibited acts, including reporting, providing false information, appropriating, misusing or exploiting voluntary contributions for personal gain.
As for Bapâs mother, she has a responsibility to be transparent with the donors who contributed to save her chil.d. The mone.y she received was used for Bapâs treatment and she needs to prove that she is using that mone.y for the right purpose. If she pays for high-end medical services to ensure the best treatment for her chil.d, the supporters cannot blame her. Or if the mone.y has not been used up because the treatment regimen is still ongoing, she also needs to be transparent.
Without transparency, she creates doubt in the minds of donors, making them question the amount of mone.y they donated and its true purpose.
Regarding the contributor, if the supporter suspects that the caller has signs of fraud, taking advantage of trust to appropriate charity mone.y, they have the right to file a criminal complaint with the police to request verification, investigation and handling. In this case, because the amount of mone.y initially announced is quite large, the complaint will be sent to the provincial police for handling.
