Pham Thoai was called to boycott after being entangled in a noisy call for donations of more than 16.7 billion VND to support baby Corn to treat K disease in Singapore. Although he has livestreamed the statement, the question of transparency in how the money is used still makes the public skeptical.
In the latest development, the audience asked the Organizing Committee (BTC) of the reality TV show Miss International Queen Vietnam 2025 - Perfect Ambassador to remove Pham Thoai's image. On the fan.page of the program, many viewers left comments: "Boycott Pham Thoai", "Any program with Pham Thoai is not watched", "The family should consider removing Pham Thoai from the program, otherwise it will be affected, don't let the audience boycott the show"
Previously, the male TikToker was introduced to take on the role of "Compassionate Chair" in this reality TV show for transgender people. Pham Thoai is also mentioned as a character who is loved for his meaningful and humane actions, and at the same time mentions accompanying the mother and daughter of Corn on the journey of healing.
This program is scheduled to air in March 2024, the specific date and time are unknown. This makes the public question the producer for prolonging the broadcast time because of Pham Thoai's charity noise. The reporter contacted to clarify the above information, but the organizers of the Miss International Queen Vietnam 2025 program did not give a response.
Regarding charity noise, from the end of 2024, the famous TikToker called on the community to donate to help baby Corn heal. Initially, the target was only about 6-7 billion VND, but the amount quickly skyrocketed to more than 16.7 billion VND thanks to the enthusiastic support of viewers.
However, the incident began to cause noise when the balance of the donation account was only 54.7 million VND, which means that nearly 16.645 billion VND had been withdrawn. The online community questions how to use this money. To clarify, Pham Thoai held a livestream on the evening of February 25, he affirmed that all transactions are transparent, ready to take responsibility if there is a mistake.
Livestream does not calm public opinion. Some people support Pham Thoai, saying that he has tried to be transparent and work from the heart. However, many other people asked for more detailed statements with specific invoices and documents, especially from the mother of baby Corn because she had repeatedly called for private donations. Some viewers even asked for a refund because their faith was shaken.
Regarding the controversy surrounding the transparency in receiving charity money from Ms. Thu Hoa, Mr. Pham Thong - Vice Chairman of the Nazi Fatherland Front where Ms. Hoa's biological parents are living shared: "A few days ago, Hoa also went online to answer, apologize to the community and sponsors, also promised that when he returns from curing his child, he will explain and publicize the accounts to receive charity." Mr. Thong also said that at the next briefing, the local Fatherland Front Committee will make moves related to this issue.
Regarding rumors, Ms. Hoa and her family used the donor's donation money for other purposes such as buying a house, buying a car... Up to now, this is still unverifiable information. The local authorities are still conducting verification and clarification.
And Mr. Van Vinh - Village Head said that the maternal grandparents of baby Corn are living to confirm that about 6-7 years ago, Mr. Hieu (Corn's grandfather) lived in another village, then sold the house to live on the field. The village area is agricultural land, so it cannot be built solidly, it can only be temporary. It was Mr. Vinh at that time who signed the house sale papers for Mr. Hieu's family.
"Now the life of Mr. and Mrs. Hieu is also considered stable, there are a few poles of land, they are freelance workers and farmers. Up to 90% of the people here are farmers, the family is not a poor household or has difficult circumstances," the village chief provided information.
Mr. Van Vinh also provided more information, almost no one in the locality supports Baby Corn because the village itself also has a much more difficult situation.
"There is another case that is worse and more miserable than baby Corn, in the same village, is the case of Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tho, who has 2 children who both have blood cancer, belonging to a near-poor household. Some time ago, a television station came down to work with the village, seeing Ms. Tho's difficult situation, she mobilized all 140 million VND to send to the bank for medical treatment for her two children."
