Le Duong Bao Lam's first ticketed fan meeting unexpectedly faced poor sales despite the event date being fast approaching. Despite having a massive following on social media, the male artist admitted to selling only over 100 tickets, viewing this as a valuable lesson about the realities of the showbiz market.
Le Duong Bao Lam's fan meeting, "A Multi-faceted, One-Word Gathering," has become a hot topic of discussion in recent days due to its serious ticket sales slump. With only a few weeks left until the event, the number of tickets sold hasn't even exceeded 100, a result that even the organizer himself admitted was "shocking." This immediately sparked a major debate about the actual purchasing power of artists during a time when fan meetings are booming in Vietnam.
As previously announced, the event will be held over two days at the end of December at the arena, with a capacity of over 1,600 seats. Three ticket categories are available at prices of 900,000 VND, 1,300,000 VND, and 1,600,000 VND. In addition, the program will feature two famous guest stars: Miss Ky Duyen and singer HIEUTHUHAI , along with other A-list artists. The stage is advertised as being seriously invested in, with lighting and sound systems meeting the standards of a mini-concert.
However, contrary to expectations, ticket sales were unbelievably low. In a personal post, Le Duong Bao Lam frankly shared that he had only sold 127 tickets as of December 9th. He recounted how he "couldn't sleep all night" because he couldn't understand why the strong social media buzz hadn't translated into actual revenue. After colleagues shared information to help, the number increased slightly to 149, but it was still far from the target.
Notably, only the two most expensive ticket categories sold out, while most regular seats remained empty. This is a paradox pointed out by many viewers: the artist has a large following, but the high-spending audience is disproportionately low. Some opinions suggest that the price of 900,000 VND or more is quite high for fans of Le Duong Bao Lam – who are accustomed to seeing the humorous, approachable artist frequently appearing on free entertainment programs. Others commented that holding the event in a large arena was a risky decision, as not every artist has a fan base willing to "sweep up" tickets for their own event.
Faced with conflicting opinions, Le Duong Bao Lam chose a gentle approach. He didn't deny the temporary setback; instead, he viewed it as a life lesson. The male artist wrote: "Diem has 15 million followers but couldn't sell half the theater tickets. This lesson is for young people: don't be overconfident in your recognition." This honest yet humorous statement resonated with many, as it clearly reflects the current reality: online popularity doesn't equate to direct sales.
The story's impact also raised a larger issue: the fan meeting market in Vietnam is heating up but is clearly polarized. Many artists sell out tickets in minutes, but others struggle despite having a large following. Audiences are starting to care about the "quality of the fandom," the level of loyalty, and the ability to pay, rather than just looking at the number of followers.
Nevertheless, Lê Dương Bảo Lâm 's influence in showbiz is undeniable. Originally a comedian, he's been actively involved in films, game shows, and more recently, popular television programs. His first ticketed fan meeting was a new experiment, and the less-than-expected results could serve as a catalyst for him to reconsider his strategy, from scale and ticket pricing to program positioning.
