After a period of battling illness, artist Thuong Tin passed away at 6:50 PM on December 8th in his hometown of Phan Rang - Thap Cham (Khanh Hoa), at the age of 69.
The funeral of artist Thuong Tin was held simply at his private residence.
Composer Tô Hiếu said that the atmosphere at the funeral was quiet, with few visitors.
Currently, the musician, along with Thuong Tin's younger brother and the late artist's son - singer Thanh Tung - are present to handle the funeral arrangements.
Musician Tô Hiếu said that Thương Tín's family authorized him to inform the media about the funeral arrangements. Otherwise, they did not want to share too much information or images to avoid causing a stir.
According to musician Tô Hiếu, artist Thương Tín seemed to be waiting for all his children to be present before he could peacefully "close his eyes and pass away."
The funeral was held in a somber atmosphere, without fanfare; everything unfolded quietly, in accordance with the family's wishes. Those attending were mainly a few close relatives and neighbors.
Many viewers were saddened to see that Thuong Tin's funeral was almost devoid of the presence of artists, in stark contrast to the usual scene at the funerals of many other artists, which are always crowded with colleagues coming to pay their respects.
Nevertheless, some colleagues who had been close to Thuong Tin still sent wreaths and condolences from afar, including artist Hong To.
The person most frequently mentioned is Trinh Kim Chi. Previously, she had supported Thuong Tin for a period, but a conflict arose between them regarding charitable donations. When Thuong Tin passed away, Trinh Kim Chi remained silent, making no public statements. She continued her filming schedule and posting videos on her personal page as usual.
Back in March 2021, artist Thuong Tin unexpectedly suffered a stroke but lacked the financial means for treatment. At that time, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi stepped forward to call on people to support her senior colleague, raising over 406 million VND.
She gave Thuong Tin 100 million VND, using the rest to pay for hospital fees and buy insurance for the actor's daughter.
MC Pham Anh also helped Thuong Tin's wife open a donation account and received approximately 400 million VND.
Thus, Thuong Tin received a total of over 800 million VND from benefactors.
However, in December 2021, the actor from "Saigon Commando" unexpectedly accused Trinh Kim Chi of withholding over 250 million VND that he had paid for his daughter's insurance, claiming it was unreasonable.
The former screen star also denied receiving 800 million VND and announced that she would involve the police.
Amidst the controversy, Trinh Kim Chi publicly released a copy of her charity donation statement for artist Thuong Tin. At the same time, she refuted the information that she contributed 800 million VND to him: "When I stepped in to help Mr. Tin, I only announced the amount donated by benefactors, which was 406,756,000 VND. Besides this amount, I was completely unaware of any other donations."
Thuong Tin later revealed that he had proactively called to reconcile with Meritorious Artist Trinh Kim Chi. He told Trinh Kim Chi: "If we can meet, let's talk about any misunderstandings and put the past behind us. We're both artists, after all; who's better or worse doesn't really matter, what's the point?"
For her part, Meritorious Artist Trinh Kim Chi confirmed that she received a request from artist Thuong Tin to meet and resolve the conflict. However, she was busy with work and family, so she only communicated with her senior colleague over the phone. She said that since actor Thuong Tin had taken the initiative to call, she should "let it go."
Thuong Tin's ex-wife took her daughter to the funeral, her son once had a shocked attitude to his step-aunt
