Ky Phong is the son of actress Kieu Trinh who just played the role of Stork in the movie "Southern Forest Land" directed by Nguyen Quang Dung. To complete the role, the boy must undergo life training in the countryside.

Even though he is only 13 years old, up to now, Ky Phong has had more than 10 roles in movies, including both main and supporting roles. In particular, recently, the boy also attracted many people's attention when he took on one of the two important child roles (An and Co) in the movie Southern Forest Land.

Rural life training course

Responding to Star, actress Kieu Trinh said that at first she signed up for her child to be cast in the main role of An, because she saw that she had similar circumstances to the character. In the movie, An does not know where his father is, nor does he remember his face clearly. In real life, Phong has not seen his father for more than 10 years.

However, at the audition, director Nguyen Quang Dung asked Ky Phong to try out the role of Stork and "score" him for this role. "After spending time mulling over the script, I also found that Co is more suitable for me, because it has a 'dusty', sly, and cunning quality," the child actor recounted.

For the past few years, Ky Phong and his younger sister were sent by his mother to his hometown of Binh Phuoc to live and study. Since childhood, my mother encouraged me to be close to nature and play rustic games. After accepting the role of Stork, my mother continued to train me in many skills of rural children to easily play the role.

The 13-year-old boy confided: "The first time I returned to my hometown, I was very scared, because there were snakes, centipedes and many insects in the fields and fields. Thanks to my mother for guidance on how to deal with them, I gradually got used to it. My mother taught me how to climb. trees, wading in ponds and more". After his mother's "training course", Ky Phong confidently became a real Stork; know how to plant trees, pick coconuts, raise chickens and catch fish.

Knowing the story, the parents of Hao Khang (as little An) and Bao Ngoc (as little Xinh) asked Kieu Trinh to take the two children back to their hometown to practice together. "All three of them live at my house. I taught them all to go to the fields to catch snakehead fish and row boats. The children often played games like climbing trees and jumping into the pond. I have many memories with them," the actress revealed. After the "training course" by Kieu Trinh's mother, the three children continued to participate in skills learning and rehearsals organized by the film crew.

Catching snakes with his bare hands and riding a buffalo

The biggest challenge for Ky Phong is acting with snakes. In the movie, Co understands snakes well and masters the skill of catching snakes. While in real life, Ky Phong is very afraid of this reptile. Kieu Trinh directly guided her child to overcome psychological obstacles.

She used a snake weighing about two ounces for Phong and her youngest sister to practice together. At first, Phong shed tears because he was afraid of being bitten by a snake. On the contrary, the youngest child excitedly held the snake in his hand. After many days of practice, Ky Phong gradually got used to it and was ready to film with a three-kilogram snake.

With her buffalo herding skills, Kieu Trinh let her children watch the classic movie Buffalo Wool Season, which she starred in 20 years ago, to observe actor The Lu's movements of climbing the back of a buffalo. From the area where she lives in Binh Phuoc, she and the other two parents drove their children another 50 km by motorbike for five days, renting buffaloes for the children to practice.

Even though he had experience practicing with his mother, when it came to filming, Ky Phong still struggled quite a bit. The 13-year-old actor said that in one scene, the film crew used a herd of about 30 buffaloes and she accidentally sat on the leader of the herd.

Ky Phong recalled a memorable memory: "The leader of the herd is very big. The buffalo owner said in advance that if he released this animal, the whole herd would run away. But the director said they should just let it go. As soon as it was released, my buffalo I sprinted away, the whole herd behind me jumped after me. I fell down and was dragged by the buffalo. I was most afraid of the other buffaloes in the herd running up and stepping on me. Khang also fell, Ngoc put her head down in the mud."

The stork from the movie comes to life

Even though the filming schedule for the role of Stork was only 20 days, Ky Phong still followed the film crew for a full two months. At that time, Kieu Trinh accompanied him to take care of his son. Her greatest joy is that after working in the West, Ky Phong's health is better and her personality is calmer, even though her skin is darker and her hair is slightly sunburned.

After filming ended, I kept the name Co as my real-life nickname. Kieu Trinh also let her child keep her character's long hair for several months.
