Khuong Duc Thuan was born in 1958, he studied at the University of Theater and Cinema at the same age as artists such as Tat Binh, Nguyen Anh Dung... After graduation, he became an actor in the Central Liberation Army Van Cong Corps.

In 1976, Khuong Duc became an actor of the Hanoi Rowing Troupe. But then he realized that this place was not his land because he was only allowed to play supporting roles, blue-eyed and sunken roles.

By 1982, the artist decided to return to the Speaking Troupe, People's Police Theater. And indeed, this is a big turning point in Khuong Duc Thuan's life as an artist, because he seems to find himself in this environment.

During 40 years of artistic activity, artist Khuong Duc Thuan has been associated with many roles as police soldiers. He himself can't remember the number of times he was portrayed in this kind of role.

Khuong Duc Thuan is also the police artist who received the most medals in the festivals and was happier when they were all awarded for police roles.

It was the gold medal for Man to Man, The Brunette Man, The Last Farewell, then the silver medal for his role in Sweet in Bitterness, The Vortex, Confrontation...

It seems that the police substance has soaked into the blood of Khuong Duc Thuan as a director once remarked about the actor: "Duc Thuan standing still has also become a police officer."

As a former soldier, having experienced arduous days in the battlefield of the 5th Military Region, it helped Duc Thuan play the role of General Vo Nguyen Giap successfully, leaving many impressions and emotions for viewers.

Khuong Duc Thuan once emotionally said that he was very happy because director Long Van trusted him with one of the most important roles, which is the role of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the legendary general of the Vietnamese people.

Before filming, General Nguyen Bell arranged for his crew to visit the General.

"When he found out that I was playing the General, he looked at me and said, 'You don't need to look like me, it's about your spirit and your will.' He also gave me a lot of books, tapes, documents with pictures related to him for me to study the role properly," the artist once shared.

According to Khuong Duc Thuan, in order to play the role and body suitable for General Vo Nguyen Giap, he had to constantly force the balance of many measures, from 80kg to 60kg.

In cinema, Khuong Duc Thuan also made his mark as a director in a number of highly appreciated CAND films, notably the TV series Saigon Rangers (in collaboration with director Minh Quang) - the work won the favorite drama award in 2011 - 2012 organized by TV magazine, Exploding Battleship (in collaboration with director Nguyen Chi Thanh) ...
