Businessman Hoang Nam Tien was born in 1969, his original residence in Nghe An, is the youngest son of Major General - Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Dan (1928 - 2003). His mother was National Assembly member Nguyen Thi An Vinh (1933 - 2022).

From 2002 to 2003, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien used to hold the position of Deputy Director of FPT Ho Chi Minh City. HCM. About 5 years later, from 2003 to 2008, Mr. Tien was promoted to General Director of FPT Distribution Co., Ltd. He played an important role in helping FPT achieve the revenue target of 1 billion USD in 2008. From 2007 to 2012, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien held the position of General Director of FPT Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park Development Co., Ltd. In 2012, he held the position of General Director of FPT Software.

In 8 years, FPT Software under his leadership has achieved an average growth rate of more than 30%, becoming one of the 500 largest software companies in the world, Top 100 trusted service providers in the world.

In March 2020, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien officially became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Telecom Joint Stock Company (FPT Telecom). Mr. Hoang Nam Tien was in the Top 100 Vietnamese Intellectuals for Typical Economics in 2012 and received a certificate of merit from the Minister of Information and Communications in 2016.

In addition, at the Institute of Management and Technology, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien is also involved in teaching as a lecturer of many subjects such as Strategic Management, Transmission, Leadership, etc. He is considered one of the 3 most sought-after speakers in 2016 thanks to his attractive, charismatic and natural teaching style.

Up to now, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien is holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FPT University, where he has turned all his enthusiasm to the field of training - especially management programs such as Global MiniMBA, Digital Transformation Leadership, or postgraduate programs for future leaders. In 32 years of working with FPT, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien has left a mark not only in business ability, but also in building a young team, promoting innovation, technology application and internal cultural development.

Not only a business leader, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien is also a speaker loved by the startup community, students and young people. Talks with him always attract a large number of attendees because of their close, deep and practical way of talking. On the afternoon of July 31, the news that Mr. Hoang Nam Tien suddenly passed away at 16:10 shocked friends and colleagues.

According to a source on VietTimes e-Magazine, at the end of the afternoon of July 31, Assoc. Prof. TS. Dr. Le Van Thach, Director of Hong Ngoc - Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital, a cardiologist, said that Mr. Hoang Nam Tien was taken to Hong Ngoc Hospital in the late afternoon with very severe stroke symptoms.

Cardiologists of Hong Ngoc General Hospital immediately provided emergency care, and at the same time, organized on-site direct consultations and online consultations with many leading cardiovascular experts. The hospital also invited Dr. Nguyen Van Huu, Director of Hospital E, a leading cardiologist came to the consultation. TS. Nguyen Van Huu is ready to go to Hong Ngoc General Hospital to support Mr. Hoang Nam Tien's emergency treatment. However, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien did not pass before the expert was present.

For more than 25 years of companionship, with Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Head of Application Management Department, Viettel Digital Digital Payment Center), this is not only the loss of a friend, but also a big gap of a passionate person in the field of technology and education.

Just two weeks earlier, on July 18, Mr. Khanh and Mr. Tien participated in a lecture at Hospital E (Hanoi), sharing with a team of doctors about the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. This is also the last class session in Mr. Hoang Nam Tien's life.

At the event, Mr. Tien presented about the rapid changes in the medical industry thanks to AI, from personalizing medical examination and treatment, to bringing medical devices with AI integration into people's homes to measure heart rate, SpO2, detect sleep apnea, and even test at home.

Mr. Khanh said: "That day, Mr. Tien's calendar was 2 parts before he came to me, but his head cried tired and coughed."

After that, Mr. Tien was examined by a doctor on the spot, suspecting flu or bronchitis. Although advised to go to the hospital, Mr. Tien initially refused. In the evening, the condition worsened, the doctors discovered that he had a cardiovascular history and immediately intervened, placing a stent in the night.

When Mr. Khanh visited, Mr. Tien still had an optimistic smile, saying that he felt healthy and comfortable like an "elixir".

"I lamented 'a day in the hospital passes too slowly'. Then he laughed and joked 'if you die, you can die on that pulpit'. When I said goodbye, almost to the door, I turned around to shake his hand, but looking at the infusion tube, I had to touch his leg hoping that he would quickly be discharged from the hospital to continue his work," Mr. Khanh recalled.

The sharing session that day at the hospital also left a deep impression on the doctors and nurses, not only because of the extensive knowledge that Mr. Tien imparted, but also because of the spirit of persistent dedication. That will continue to inspire those working in the health and technology sectors, especially in an effort to bring the two industries together more effectively and closely.

According to Mr. Khanh, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien is a true "workaholic" person. As soon as he was discharged from the hospital a few days early, he immediately planned the next lecture scheduled for August 2 and also an important meeting on August 11. It was all unfinished when he passed away suddenly.
