After a brilliant year, Miss Universe Vietnam will officially miss its 2026 event. National Director Ngoc Chau confirmed that the competition will officially return in the 2027 season with many groundbreaking changes in its journey to honor women.
On March 26th, the Vietnamese beauty pageant community received shocking news: The Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2026 pageant will not take place as scheduled. Instead, all resources will be focused on a major overhaul of the system before its return in 2027.
According to National Director Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau, 2026 is identified as a "golden milestone" for implementing the restructuring of the operational system. The most important highlight in this announcement is the standardization of the provincial and city-level copyright system nationwide. This is a bold step to build a professional and systematic candidate selection foundation right from the local level, helping to tightly control the quality of input and synchronize the organizational process according to international standards.
Ngoc Chau affirmed: "2026 is a key year for us to build a professional selection network, ensuring that every contestant entering the final round is a gem that has been meticulously polished from the ground up. This change aims for sustainable development, approaching the most stringent standards in the world."
Looking back over nearly 20 years since its first edition in 2008, Miss Universe Vietnam has affirmed its position as the "elder statesman" in the Vietnamese beauty pageant scene. From legendary names like Thuy Lam and Pham Huong to the "inspirational icon" H'Hen Nie, the competition has not only discovered beautiful faces but also created symbols of strength and influence.
The period from 2023 to 2025 marks the most spectacular transformation as the competition officially enters the "Cosmo Era". The newest names, such as Bui Xuan Hanh (2023) and the reigning Miss Cosmo Vietnam, Nguyen Hoang Phuong Linh (2025), are proof of this shift in mindset: Beyond just physical beauty, Miss Cosmo Vietnam seeks modern women who are intelligent and capable of creating a truly positive impact on the community (Impactful Beauty).
Maintaining a biennial cycle not only allows the organizing body time to invest in quality but also creates the necessary space for the reigning Miss Universe to successfully fulfill her mission and community projects.
Although the national competition is temporarily suspended, Unicorp (Hoan Vu Saigon Company) is still seriously fulfilling its responsibility to send a representative to compete in the Miss Cosmo 2026 international pageant. Currently, the identity of Vietnam's representative remains a big mystery, but the pressure on the successor is clearly evident.
The next representative from Vietnam will have the responsibility of protecting and building upon the impressive achievements of her predecessors: Top 5 Miss Cosmo 2024 (Bui Xuan Hanh) and Top 10 Miss Cosmo 2025 (Nguyen Hoang Phuong Linh). This is no easy challenge, as the Miss Cosmo competition is becoming increasingly fierce and unpredictable.
In particular, the excitement surrounding the 2026 season reached its peak when the Miss Cosmo International organization confirmed its first registered contestant: Thae Su Nyein – the representative from Myanmar. Dubbed a "controversial beauty" but possessing exceptional performance skills and a large fan base, Thae Su Nyein is undoubtedly a formidable competitor. Following this news, Vietnamese beauty pageant fans are focusing their attention on Unicorp, hoping for a strong and capable "warrior" to challenge the powerful rivals on the international stage.
