H'ang Nie is an Ede ethnic, born in 1992 in Dak Lak. She has dreamed of becoming a beauty queen since her childhood. Her father died early, she worked in a coffee plantation and herded cows to help her mother. After graduating from the Pedagogical College in her hometown, H'ang Nie went to Saigon to start a career by teaching life skills to children. She became known to the public when she participated in Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2011. In this contest, she entered the top 6 and won the "Contestant with the most beautiful body" sub-prize.
With her brown skin and unique face, H'ang Nie was chosen by designers such as Do Manh Cuong and Vo Cong Khanh to be a model in their quirky fashion photos. The Ede ethnic contestant has participated in many beauty contests over the years. In 2014, H'ang Nie competed in Miss Vietnam and finished in the top 38.
In this contest, the beauty impressed with her height of 1.71 m, weight of 50 kg, and measurements of 84-59-90 cm. At Miss Universe Vietnam 2015, H'Ang Nie was considered to have potential because she met the healthy criteria. However, she continued to fail. Also in 2015, she competed in the Vietnam Supermodel contest and won the "Contestant with the most beautiful body" award.
In 2016, the beauty participated in Miss Vietnam and stopped in the top 30. As an older contestant, H'Ang Nie was cheered by many audiences because of her confident demeanor. In 2017, she continued to compete in Miss Ocean and entered the top 15 finalists.
H'ang Nie was the youngest child in a poor family of 6 siblings. Her father was seriously ill and had no money for treatment and died early. Feeling sorry for her mother's hardship, she worked as a hired hand on a coffee plantation and herded cows to earn money for her education. When she participated in the Miss Vietnam contest, Nie was studying at the Pedagogical College.
Someone once compared Nie to the "black panther" Naomi Campbell. But that year, luck did not smile on H'Ang Nie. In 2018, she attended the press conference for the final round of Miss Vietnam 2018, Nie said that she was as nervous as the other contestants. Sharing more, Nie said: this year, if she could arrange her work, she would also participate in Miss Vietnam, but because of too much work and projects, she had to miss it.
Talking about her memories of the Miss Vietnam contest, Nie shared: "I have matured a lot since the Miss Vietnam contest. The Miss Vietnam contest is an environment to train and develop the skills of all the contestants."
Also in 2018, H'Ang Nie registered to compete in the Vietnam Fashion Model contest, where she finished as 1st runner-up. In the same year, she represented Vietnam in the Miss Supermodel World contest, where she excellently won the title of 2nd runner-up. This was also H'Ang Nie's last achievement, she officially announced that she would stop her beauty pageant career.
In 2019, H'Ang Nie caused controversy when she was suspected of touching an Ede beauty with a similar name to hers, H'Hen Nie. Obviously, H'Hen Nie's title and career far surpassed H'Ang Nie's, many people thought that H'Ang Nie was jealous and had harsh words for this fellow countryman. Amidst the noise of the incident, the female model declared that she had never hinted or condemned anyone, and certainly did not call on people not to participate in the festival.
H'Ang Nie said that she received many messages of criticism from the online community after the information that she criticized H'Hen Nie was posted in the newspapers. Accordingly, after the post with 6,500 interactions, the old admin of the fanpage of runner-up H'Ang Nie had his administrative rights taken over, so the posts "indirectly scolding" H'Hen Nie afterwards were not posted by her or the old admin. She herself did not know who the status saying H'Hen Nie was "too busy acting" and "should go back and teach her fans" came from. H'Ang Nie further affirmed that there was no way that she and H'Hen Nie were "just on the surface but not in the heart".
"When Hen competed in the beauty pageant, I was one of the people who encouraged and advised her, and lent her costumes. But when Hen was crowned, I posted a congratulatory message and received some rude comments. So, from then on, I only followed Hen's activities and didn't post anything," H'Ang Nie shared.
According to her, H'Hen Nie is who she is today thanks to a process of striving. "She is the first ethnic minority in the Central Highlands to win the title of Miss, I am also proud! Although our circumstances and paths are different, we always aspire to bring the best things to our homeland," she said.
According to H'Ang Nie, the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism welcomed H'Hen Nie back to her hometown because of her connection. Previously, H'Ang Nie's fanpage had a post with sensitive content that was said to be aimed at H'Hen Nie. Accordingly, the writer said that H'Hen Nie was "too busy acting" and advised Miss Universe 2017 to go back and "teach her fans again".
