Many parents expressed concern because the Halloween festival in Vietnam was "transformed" too much. This is considered inappropriate for the culture as well as affecting the thinking and spirit of the young generation.
On the last days of October every year, all the entertainment venues, shops... are decorated to celebrate Halloween. Besides the religious significance, Halloween today is welcomed by young people as a carnival. People are free to transform into characters with creepy elements, ghosts... or based on movie blockbusters. The more unique, the more frightening effect, the more attention it attracts.
From the evening of October 30, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street (Ho Chi Minh City) has attracted a large number of attendees. However, many people have expressed anger because creativity has gone beyond the limit. For Vietnamese people, the image of placing mats, lighting incense sticks arbitrarily ... is considered "not recommended". However, according to a forum's reflection, the young man was stunned when he recreated the scene above, even illustrated with imaginative red stains. Around, many other young men and women also showed interest, taking pictures to show off online. The male lead also enthusiastically lay there for a long time so that everyone could capture this "golden" moment. Under the comments, many Netizens left the opinion that this action is too offensive, not suitable for fine customs. Although knowing that "cultural interference" is normal, "West and I" should still distinguish clearly.
Parents also condemned that taking photos before the dead would set a precedent for the insensitivity, the "virtual living" habit of young people. Especially recently, public opinion is mourning the tragedy that happened in Itaewon neighborhood. Also because of the Halloween festival, more than 150 people died. Nguyen Hue pedestrian street is also the central location of the city. Netizens hope that the authorities will take measures to ensure the security situation here is very tight so that everyone is safe when playing.
Some comments raised objections: "You should give up this festival. It will not be good for the next generation of young people. Let's learn the good, don't learn the bad things, so that later the bad things can be learned. it will happen to me"
"I really want to make a mat..., one day it will come true"
"Halloween is a foreign culture, but it's so offensive to our own people"
"A festival that is completely incompatible with our country's customs and traditions should be abolished"
"Your parents will surely cry and be sad if they know it"
"It's also hard to lie down. I'm obsessed with the Korean case and now I see the crowd running out of pants"
According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Dean of the Department of Psychology and Education - Hue University of Education, Halloween festival originated in the West but has been introduced to Vietnam and is quite popular. However, it should be noted when decorating and dressing up to avoid offensive images, and at the same time, it is necessary to ensure the appropriateness of culture, level of each age group and general regulations.
"When we apply a certain model or form of cultural and entertainment activities from the outside, we should base ourselves on the traditional cultural background, based on the audience and age, to have regulations and methods of organizing activities. Even when organizing a festival, it is necessary to limit the age and age to see and participate," said Dr. Hung about Halloween in Vietnam.
Also stating his opinion on the above issue, facebooker Nguyen Sin also disagrees about Halloween culture.
"The case of taking advantage of the carnival yesterday in the heart of the city is very offensive, worsening the general image, raising concerns about the personality of the majority of young people.
In front of the gate of the City People's Committee, under the monument of President Ho Chi Minh, to let this scene of mats and incense bowls be displayed, no matter how sympathetic you are, it is also offensive.
Bringing the festival back to its original origin is difficult, but that does not mean that there is no way to return the festival to its original meaning, we have a management apparatus for culture and festivals. . What we need to do is manage it, turn it into a spiritual food for the people, not to make noise and cause image loss.
For young children, at a young age, they do not understand how painful the sight of a mat in the middle of the road is, so they should consider it as a joke and entertainment among the crowd.
Adults, especially parents, have the responsibility to educate their children."
