Hai Bot: Rock "monster" pursues dream despite father's expectations, about to make comeback

Hai Bot is no longer a strange name to Vietnamese rock music lovers. With his unique and individual musical style, he quickly became one of the "monsters" of the music industry.

Hai Bot, whose real name is Nguyen Cong Hai, was born in 1982 and is known as the "monster" of Vietnamese rock music thanks to his warm, emotional voice and free, liberal musical style. Through many years of artistic activities, he has left a deep impression on the audience.

Hai Bot always remembers the thrill he felt when he first heard his neighbor's organ. The notes dancing and echoing in the small room awakened in him a strong passion and a desire to create such wonderful sounds himself.

However, Hai Bot’s dream was contrary to his father’s expectations. He wanted his son to become a refined, elegant man, and the classical piano was the perfect tool to achieve that. Piano lessons became a punishment for the male rocker because he felt suffocated by strict rules and regulations.

Hai Bot longed for the freedom to explore and create his own sounds. Finally, the opportunity came when he was given a guitar and began to explore and teach himself, without following any curriculum. He fiddled with the strings, tried to improvise melodies, feeling like he was discovering a new world, a world without any limits.

"Music has no standards or binding forms. Like voice, when I speak, I like to use my own voice and not imitate the voice of another province," Hai Bot shared. The male rocker often spends hours composing, immersing himself in melodies. Because when composing, he feels like he is flying on the clouds, forgetting all worries and sorrows. Music is also where the young man finds freedom and can be himself.

Before becoming a solo artist and forming the group Tiny Monsters, Hai Bot was an indispensable member of the band Microwave. It was here that he contributed to creating hits that touched the hearts of many people such as "Find Again" and "Uoc Mo".

After parting ways with Microwave, Hai Bot continued to conquer audiences with the band Tiny Monsters. The band’s music has a completely different color, full of personality and emotion. The compositions during this period brought a new breeze to the Vietnamese music market, affirming the unique composing talent of the male rocker.

Hai Bot's music is characterized by depth, contemplation, and catchy melodies. His lyrics are like diary entries, recording thoughts and concerns about life, inspiring generations of listeners. He does not follow market trends but is always loyal to his own musical style, creating an indelible mark in the hearts of his audience.

With his outstanding musical talent and genuine, simple personality, Hai Bot deserves to be considered one of the "legends of the Vietnamese rock scene". On the evening of August 10, he officially returned after a long absence from the stage. Unlike many other artists, the male rocker chose to "hide", quietly create and only appear when he really has something meaningful to share.

On October 14, Hai Bot made a brief announcement of "stopping" on his personal Facebook page. This post caused a stir in the Vietnamese rock community, suspecting that he was implicitly announcing that he would leave music. However, this "stopping" has a completely different meaning, which according to the male rocker himself is "stopping and starting".

Hai Bot's official comeback to the rock scene with his solo concert "Stop & Start" on November 10 is not only a musical event but also an important milestone, marking the beginning of a new journey. After many years, the audience finally has the opportunity to enjoy live familiar melodies and discover new musical colors from him.

What is special about this concert is the collaboration between Hai Bot and The Farmers band. With the participation of former members of Microwave, the music of the concert promises to bring a nostalgic but equally fresh breeze. In addition, the "collaboration" with guest artists such as Linh Rosewood and Pham Anh Khoa further increases the diversity and appeal of the program.

It is known that Hai Bot is not only a performing artist but also a talented music producer. He personally produced and mixed all the songs in the concert, showing his dedication and passion for music. It can be said that "Stop & Start" is not simply a concert but a passionate music project, a gift that the male rocker gives to the audience.

The "Stop & Start" concert was also the premise for Hai Bot to make an EP later, with the main part being live recordings of the songs from the event and at least one new song that had never been officially released before. In this product, the male rocker continued to play the role of music producer and sound engineer for his own music.
