Passionate about singing, Ha Van put aside her job as a teacher to pursue a singing career for more than 10 years. The girl from Dong Nai in turn won the hearts and love of the audience through her simple yet delicate voice along with emotional songs with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics.
The path from the lecture hall to the stage
Ha Van's real name is Pham Thi Hong Van, born in 1985, in a family originally from Thanh Hoa, then migrated to Dong Nai to do new business and stick with this place until now. Although normally, Ha Van still speaks with a Northern accent like everyone else in the family, but when she raises her voice, she sings with a very sweet Southern accent. This makes Ha Van herself still unable to explain, so she always considers this to be the voice that she was lucky to be gifted by God.
Although none of her family members follow art, the love for singing has been formed in Ha Van's heart since she was very young. In those days, she often hangs out in a hammock after the summer, humming along to every song of Ms. Huong Lan, and thinking about one day standing on stage, raising her voice.
Knowing that their daughter loves to sing, Ha Van's parents strongly objected because they were afraid that their daughter would suffer, and wanted her to become a teacher to have a more stable and peaceful life.
According to her family, Ha Van had to put aside her dream to enter Dong Nai Pedagogical College, majoring in music. After graduating from school, she became a music teacher at a secondary school in Dong Nai.
In 2012, when her love for music could not be quenched, Ha Van decided to take a risk and go to Saigon alone to pursue her passion.
Ha Van said at that time, her mother completely opposed her pursuing her passion for singing. Having a heart disease, when she learned that her daughter intended to quit the teaching profession, she cried a lot. Even, because of disappointment, the singer's mother had a heart attack.
However, more and more passionate about music, Ha Van asked her parents to stop teaching for a year to study more vocals and hone her professional skills. During this time, she actively participated in reality shows such as Mysterious, X-Factor.
In the program "Mysteries", Ha Van performed the song "Em About Miet Thu" and received many compliments from judge Hoai Linh. In addition, in the program X-Factor (Mysterious Factor), Ha Van performed excellently and became a member of Dam Vinh Hung's team. This is also the chance that led to the collaboration between her and Mr. Talk in some music products later.
After creating a buzz and gradually being known to the audience, Ha Van began to sing at tea rooms, and then got closer to the audience at large and small music stages all over the country. When she first started singing, Ha Van couldn't avoid feeling nervous, lack of confidence and easily influenced by many things around.
But after hard training, Ha Van has gradually become more confident when standing in front of the audience. In particular, she still does not lose the rustic and dear nature in the way of releasing words, making it difficult for those who have heard it once to forget Ha Van's singing.
Ha Van and her intense love for lyrical bolero music
While many people choose vibrant young music to pursue, Ha Van has a very different direction when remaining loyal to lyrical bolero songs. Maybe many people will think that Ha Van refuses to innovate, stays loyal to a genre of music without changing herself. But know how when the love for bolero has long become an indispensable part of Ha Van's memory, making her unable to quit even if she wanted to.
The female singer shared, "Each verse is like a narrative, so the singer must also be very deep, sing as if he's confiding in his own heart. I myself am a quiet person, melancholy, sentimental and simple living. .
What Van wants to keep the most when singing old music, bolero music is the spirit and emotion of the song. Van finds it a bit "reverse" and finds herself unable to sing bolero with the messy mixes of the disco, disco, or the hot EDM mixes of bars and stadiums."
Indeed, with her sweet voice and gentle performance, Ha Van has left a lot of impressions in the hearts of the audience. It is also thanks to the lyrical music that Ha Van has found her own unique features, not mixed with many other names.
Also because of the pursuit of lyrical and bolero music, Ha Van is always associated with elegant ao dai instead of graceful dresses or skirts like other female singers. She thinks that the gentle ao dai will be more suitable for the performance style, while helping her to hide her shortcomings, so that she feels more graceful and confident every time she steps on the stage.
Ha Van's outstanding songs
After more than 10 years of singing, Ha Van has owned many quality songs and received the love of the audience. In each product, the female singer always spends a lot of time and enthusiasm to invest to be as thorough as possible. In particular, the album The Voice of Ha Van 2 released in 2017 has created a great resonance thanks to the uniqueness and careful investment of Ha Van.
It is known that this album was cherished by her for 3 years to be completed and sent to the fans. Accordingly, the album was made by Ha Van in the old format including cassette tapes and CDs. In addition, the image and presentation of the disc cover for harmonization - mixing and recording are also similar to the old Saigon style, so they become even more unique and impressive.
Accordingly, the album opens with the song Sunny Afternoon - the song is considered the first bolero song of Vietnamese new music. Next are the classic bolero songs of the golden age of the 60s such as: Sorrow at the Inn, Flowers Blooming at Night, Two Stars of Lac, Fate Silk, Xom Night... And closing with the first songs and mid 70s such as: Sea of Love, Through the Maze.
In addition, Ha Van's name is also associated with many other songs such as: The Old Road You Go, Please Return Me Back, You Return To You, Memory, Homeland Soul, Remember Last Summer,....
