Rushing to form a new group when BABYMONSTER had not yet had time to explode, YG stumbled upon many mixed opinions. But the company is in a hurry is one thing, and whether the girls will make their debut in time is another matter.
On May 29, YG Entertainment released a video titled "YG Next Monster", introducing Evelli â a 2k10 trainee from Australia, marking the beginning of the company's next-generation girl group lineup, after the success of BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER.
According to YG, Evelli is a "well-rounded" artist with a strong voice, confident rapping ability, and fluency in many languages such as Korean, English, and Spanish. In the posted video, the female trainee appeared with a personality shape, wearing comfortable tracksuits, and age-appropriate natra bun hair. She also attracts attention thanks to her many similarities with Jennie when she was just starting out.
In his debut performance, Evelli covered Doechii's song "Nosebleeds", featuring YG's signature hip-hop style. She clearly demonstrates her impressive control and versatility in response to the song's dynamic rhythmic changes. This video quickly received hundreds of thousands of views after just a few hours of publication, showing a fairly strong attraction even though the female rookie has not debuted.
YG Entertainment's founder and production manager, Yang Hyun Suk, personally introduced the group, saying that the members will be announced one after another, and expressed confidence in the talent of each trainee. "We ask you to treat them as they are, as you hear and see them," he said. However, there is not any specific timeline regarding the group's official debut given.
According to the Koreaherald, YG's new girl group is unlikely to debut this year. By the time BABYMONSTER re-debuted in April last year (adding Ahyeon), Yang Hyun Suk once announced his intention to focus on the development of the "little devil" throughout 2025.
An industry official also said: "If the upcoming girl group is scheduled for this year, then the whole promotion plan has already been implemented. Since only the first member was revealed, it is difficult for the group to debut before next year."
YG's rush to form a new girl group has made fans worried about BABYMONSTER's future all this time. As a junior to BLACKPINK, owning a large fan base and achieving many positive achievements on the online platform, the group is still in the stage of shaping its musical style and has not yet had a truly breakthrough hit.
Therefore, promoting the group this year is considered a priority strategy of the "big man". At the present time, launching a new girl group at the same time can cause media and support resources to be divided, affecting the long-term development of both. This is something that Korean entertainment companies often consider carefully.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK continues to be one of YG's pillar artists. Recently, the group announced the schedule for the Asian leg of the DEADLINE world tour. Specifically, the 4 girls will perform in the cities of Taiwan (China), Bangkok (Thailand), Jakarta (Indonesia), Bulacan (Philippines), Singapore, Hong Kong (China). Each venue will hold 2-3 music nights, lasting from October 2025 to January 2026.
Most recently, Korean media reported that Hac Huong will release a new song in July, coinciding with the start of the DEADLINE tour. "Witch" Teddy is said to be in charge of producing the theme song for this comeback of the group.
The above information immediately caused debate in the fan community. Many opinions pointed out that the way the article expressed that BLACKPINK "will release a new song" made them skeptical, whether this time the group would release an album as expected, or just 1-2 songs after nearly 3 years of absence.
More importantly, until now, YG has not made any official confirmation regarding the release time of BLACKPINK's reunion product. The use of external media to signal again makes many fans concerned about the certainty of this plan.
"BABYMONSTER's little sister" is overripe, is she a faulty version of BLACKPINK, is YG's time over? Phượng Vũ17:32:42 28/05/2025Ahead of schedule, YG has released information and images of the first member of the new girl group. However, the profile of the rookie is causing controversy on forums.
