Billionaire husband dies after 72 days of marriage, wife 6 inherits property, stepchildren dispute

Austrian billionaire Richard Lugner has died at the age of 91, leaving behind his new wife, Simone Reilander (42), and a huge fortune after just 72 days of marriage. This was his sixth marriage, having previously been married to five other wives.

He was said to have suffered some health problems over the past few months, but the cause of his sudden passing and the reason have not been made public.

In July, Richard Lugner was hospitalized with a ruptured heart valve. Emergency services were called to his home before his death but were unable to save the wealthy businessman.

In 2014, billionaire Richard Lugner spent $500,000 (over VND12.5 billion) to invite Kim Kardashian to Austria to attend the Opera Ball. According to the schedule, Kim Kardashian went to dinner, attended a press conference and danced with Richard Lugner.

In addition, he spent a lot of money to invite famous artists such as Jane Fonda, Pamela Anderson and Goldie Hawn... to attend the Opera Ball event in Vienna (Austria).

At the Lugner City shopping center he built, Richard Lugner's office is located on the 3rd floor. Despite his old age, he still works 9 hours a day. He once shared: "Work brings joy and I can still work."

In June, Richard Lugner married his sixth wife, Reilander. She also shared photos and expressed her condolences to her late husband on social media.

Richard Lugner and Reilander's wedding took place at Vienna City Hall in front of 50 guests. He had previously been married to five other women.

His first marriage was to Christine Gmeiner from 1961 to 1978, the couple had two sons. He then married Cornelia Laufersweiler, a marriage that lasted four years. In 1984, he married Susanne Dietrich.

After separating from Susanne Dietrich, he married Christina Lugner and had a daughter, the two divorced in 2007. Next, he married Cathy Schmitz, this marriage lasted 2 years and had a child together.

With his passing, his children and new wife are all entitled to inherit the considerable fortune he left behind, however, family conflicts could lead to trouble in the future.

Over the years, Lugner has passed his construction company on to his two sons, Alexander and Andreas. However, the focus of the upcoming property dispute may revolve around the shopping mall and cinema at the Lugner City complex in Vienna.

Reilander, his new wife, signed a prenuptial agreement that secured her a five-figure salary as a manager at Lugner City. She was appointed director of the shopping mall and cinema on August 1, just weeks before the billionaire died.

Before her death, Lugner changed her will to ensure Reilander would be protected and would remain in charge of Lugner City. She was also given a widow’s pension of up to $5,500 a month and the right to use the Doblinger mansion, an asset that Lugner’s children would not have access to while she was alive.

The relationship between Lugner's children is currently tense and complicated. His fourth wife, Christina Lugner, has publicly stated that her daughter, Jacqueline, will do everything possible to ensure that Lugner's legacy is preserved and carried out according to his wishes. Meanwhile, Lugner's sons, Alexander and Andreas, are also involved in managing their father's foundation, which includes companies, real estate and investments.
