Vietnam's oldest lesbian couple: No home in cemetery, U70 still salty

Uncle Tu, a resident of the area, said: "It's not an ordinary couple like any other family. They were two women, living together for more than 3 decades, with neither children nor land to build a house. So they chose the piggy cemetery as a place to live, growing vegetables and fruits every day to sustain their lives."

The woman with the hair also introduced herself to Binh Duong Unique Channel: "I am Uncle Seven, I am 65 years old. And this is my wife named Thuy, 67 years old. We are both women, but for the past 30 years we have treated each other like husband and wife. We are probably the oldest same-sex couple in Vietnam."

It is known that Uncle Seven is from Soc Trang. He was born in the form of a girl. However, the older he gets, the more different he finds himself. He has no sympathy for men but loves women.

When he was over 20 years old, Bang came to Saigon to earn a living by picking bottle ticks. He also longed to one day be true to himself. Uncle Seven said: "I have the form of a woman but a manly soul. I desperately wanted to love a girl but dared to "come out" because at that time society was strict with homosexuals. In 1993, he met his current wife, Ms. Thuy. She worked as a hired dishwasher. Since he met her, he suddenly felt his heart flutter so he was determined to "disperse" it.

Sharing about her love affair with Uncle Seven, Ms. Thuy said: "Me and him have just gotten to know each other and feel very familiar. The two became soulmates because they shared the same passion – wanting to be true to themselves. Then we developed feelings and decided to move in together as husband and wife despite the scornful gaze of the world."

At this point, Uncle Seven also continued: "At that time, we did not dare to live in the city, we had to move to this cemetery to live in seclusion. There are few people passing here, and it is located where pigs suck, so there is no fear of people talking about anything."

Up to now, Uncle Seven and Ms. Thuy have lived together for 30 years. However, a piece of land with a decent house to live in aunt and uncle did not have. They lived on the "lay down" of the deceased. Every day, both spouses grow vegetables together or find wild shoots to eat.

Besides, they also take care of the unvisited grave. They say that it is their responsibility to the deceased, both to show respect and to bless them with good health.

When asked if he had made things public, Uncle Seven replied emphatically: "Yes! Now in modern society, people have a positive view of same-sex marriage. Now family, friends and the village know it all. There are still people in the family who are not supportive, but that's it.

Ms. Thuy said: "I am disadvantaged compared to my sisters in the house, but much more. I have a gentle husband who takes care of business and loves me dearly. For 30 years, I have never regretted marrying him."
