LGBT couple from Vinh Long bride "turned into" groom in Khanh Hoa happily welcomed their first son

The couple who once caused a fever in Ho Chi Minh City in February 2022 because of a special wedding when the "bride" suddenly became "the groom", recently welcomed their first child. It is known that the two have children through in vitro fertilization.

Same-sex couple Tran Thi To Bang (33 years old, from Vinh Long) and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Van (39 years old, from Khanh Hoa, currently living in Ho Chi Minh City) once caused a stir in public opinion by a special wedding "bride" turned "groom" in February 2022.

To Bang and Tuyet Van both wore bridal gowns and experienced marriages with the opposite sex. However, they do not feel happy because they cannot be true to themselves. Overcoming prejudice, the two came together to build a home.

On July 14, the two were extremely happy to welcome their first son. In indescribable joy, To Bang said that he and his wife broke down when they heard the cry of their son being born.

Sharing with Youth Newspaper, Bang said that the couple had a child thanks to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and had to overcome many difficulties.

To Bang said, starting from April 2022, the two went to see a famous obstetrician in Ho Chi Minh City. After listening to the sharing, they have more determination to realize their desire to be a father and mother.

The couple's journey to find a child goes through many stages. Tuyet Van has to do some tests to see if her body can qualify for pregnancy. Then, both find a suitable sperm sample to swap with the sperm bank.

"It took us 5 months, testing 5 people to find a standard sperm sample and then swapping it," To Bang said.

The doctor had to use the procedure in addition to the fact that the wife was a bit old, so she had to transplant the embryo many times to pass. Bang excitedly confided that: "At first, we implanted 2 embryos, but 1 embryo was damaged, so we got 1 boy. The pregnancy period was long because Van was also old and had many difficulties. The time to do IVF was also very difficult, injecting a lot of drugs, but with love and determination we succeeded."

Because of the application of in vitro fertilization (IVF) method, the "wife" has to go through the stages of egg stimulation, egg retrieval, etc. Being pregnant at an older age, Tuyet Van encounters many difficulties. The required number of eggs is also not much.

However, the two decided to try their luck, implanting and creating embryos right away instead of stimulating and sucking eggs again.

"After a long time of waiting, we also got 2 baby embryos for implantation. After embryo implantation, Tuyet Van suffered from pain and was extremely tired. 11 days later, she tested it and saw 2 lines," To Bang recalls the moment of bursting with happiness.

Besides, Bang also added that, after returning to the same house, thanks to experience as a manager in a number of restaurants before, Bang and Van opened a Japanese restaurant in Binh Thanh District (HCMC) to do business and set up a business. Although they have to work hard while taking care of their pregnant wife and doing business, they are both extremely happy to be themselves and have true love.

Knowing that, the chance to have children with them is more difficult than others, so both are cautious little by little. Tuyet Van restricts movement, adheres to the routine antenatal check-up schedule and fully performs the tests as indicated.

During the pregnancy of the "wife", both sides of the family wholeheartedly supported and encouraged the couple. However, a sudden shock came that required Thuy Van to be much more brave.

To Bang said: "2.5 months ago, my mother-in-law died suddenly from a heart attack. Van was shocked and didn't want to accept the painful truth, but for the sake of her family, for our children, she tried to suppress the pain to care for the unborn baby."

Bang told Youth Newspaper that: "Both of them worked and took care of the preschool gradually forming. On the night of July 13, we texted the doctor and then went to the hospital for examination and was assigned an operation. Our son was born the next day, he weighed 3 kg and his name was Tran Kien Van".

Recalling the emotional moment, To Bang confided: "My wife" gave birth by caesarean section, so it took a lot of effort. Seeing her pass out on the hospital bed, I was deeply moved. "Wife" has sacrificed a lot to build a complete family with me.

The next day when I saw her in pain getting out of bed to practice walking, I was both sad but also felt Van strong. I stayed awake for 3 days straight because of anxiety, joy and happiness."

In addition, Bang also revealed that his wife and son are still in the hospital. After discharge from the hospital, the wife and children will go home to Vinh Long.
