Singer Tuan Canh is known as the biological father of Xuan Mai. He was also a famous singer in his homeland's lyrical music genre in the 1990s. Later, Tuan Canh settled abroad, opened a pho restaurant and retired from showbiz, living a private life.
She's a singer but less famous than her daughter
Singer Tuan Canh is originally from Hanoi, studied at the Hanoi School of Culture and Arts and had a period of artistic activities in Vietnam in the 80s and 90s. Later, he fell in love with Xuan Mai's mother - an overseas Vietnamese from Tien Giang who came to America in 1979.
Singer Tuan Canh is only truly famous as the manager behind Xuan Mai's success. His daughter is known as one of the most successful and famous child music prodigies to date.
At over 2 years old, Xuan Mai already owned dozens of famous children's songs that almost every child at that time knew by heart, such as "Little Stork", "Don't dare", "Wash your face like a cat". .. The reputation of Tuan Canh's daughter that day was so great that record companies had to note: "Special with the appearance of little Xuan Mai".
Singer Tuan Canh shared: "Before giving birth to Xuan Mai, my family already made records and children's records. Xuan Mai was born in that environment, so at the age of 2, she knew how to stand and dance very well. nature.
Since the age of 2, Xuan Mai has recorded in shows without an audience. At that time, she had to have someone remind her to speak, dance, and walk. Xuan Mai alone listened to the three people's instructions for a while and then followed suit. Xuan Mai was not literate at that time, so when she entered the studio I had to stand outside to remind her, but she could still sing along, she truly had talent."
It is known that Xuan Mai has a younger brother named Rich Anh Tuan (born in 1997). This lovely little brother of Xuan Mai also sang with her. Initially, Anh Tuan only starred in a MV with Xuan Mai, but gradually he had a number of solo products.
However, when they were at the peak of their popularity, their family sent them to America to live and study. Since then, her "disappearance" from the entertainment industry made many audiences regret.
And yet, since then, Xuan Mai's father's marriage also broke down. This broken marriage pushed Xuan Mai and her mother into a dead end with nothing. From then on, Xuan Mai and her mother went to live abroad. The singer's mother sells rented goods to a record store (original and pirated discs) in a corner of the market where the Vietnamese community in Cali gathers to trade. And she gradually lost her childhood reputation, living quietly and peacefully with her own family.
Xuan Mai once shared when her parents broke up: "I always respect my parents' decisions. As parents, no one wants their children to suffer because of living without one of them, but I think they have their own reasons." I never asked my mother about this, but no matter what, I always love my parents the same. I don't blame my father even though he has his own family." Singer 9X also revealed the close relationship between her and her father's second family. "The two families are very close. I feel happy about that," Xuan Mai expressed.
How is life now?
Recently, at the show "House with Guests", comedian Thuy Nga revealed her relationship with Tuan Canh. She said: "Tuan Canh and I have known each other for a long time, when I was still studying at the School of Theater and Cinema. After that, I went to shows many times with Xuan Mai so I met Tuan Canh a lot.
Later, when I went abroad, I saw Mr. Tuan Canh open a pho restaurant in the same area as me. I still often go to the pho restaurant to support him."
Singer Tuan Canh also confided about starting a career in the US: "I have been in the US for nearly 20 years now, which is quite a long time. My youngest son is now 17 years old. Initially, my ex-wife told me to go to the US. but I don't want to yet.
Later, I realized I had been in Vietnam for too long, so I went to America to see what was going on. This time I went to America with my second wife. First of all, I was in Hawaii first because my wife's family was there. From my mother-in-law to my sister-in-law, each of them has a nail salon in Hawaii, so I go there to help do nails.
After 3 years in Hawaii, I moved to California. The fate was that one time I went to California to visit, and I thought it was so fun that I came home and packed my things. Actually, Hawaii is also a big island but still remote and deserted.
I was living in a crowded Vietnam. Going to Hawaii felt like it was too far, so I moved to California so there were more Vietnamese people. Here, Vietnamese is spoken everywhere, from restaurants, markets to schools.
When I first came to California, I got my feet wet and had to work for other people, but the jobs were as an announcer or an advertiser, and my wife still worked as a nail technician.
A few years later, I had capital so I opened a pho restaurant. Luckily, the pho restaurant I opened was crowded with customers and was successful without any problems. I cook delicious pho, and some of it is also loved by God.
Actually, I have a career in cooking pho because my family has sold pho since I was young. That time I cooked pho for my friends and colleagues. Thuy Nga complimented me on how delicious it was. She encouraged me to open a pho restaurant and I obeyed. Who would have thought it would be so hard now. Working in a restaurant, everyone wants to be crowded, but if it's too crowded, there's pressure."
Next, Tuan Canh revealed the current situation of his daughter Xuan Mai: "My daughter is currently working in a bank with her husband in Ohio, and no longer sings. Xuan Mai now has 3 children.
Xuan Mai and her children still call me from time to time to talk to me. My grandchildren speak Vietnamese very well even though they were born in America."
