Le Tin - Life is not like a dream in the US: 25 years of living without a home, being fired by a senior and cutting 2/3 of his liver

"As an artist, in the US for many years, Mr. Le Tin still has not had a house, it's very sad" - Thuy Nga said.

Le Tin is known as an overseas comedian and reformer. The name of the artist Le Tin is not too famous, so not many audiences know him. However, artist Le Tin has also participated in many comedies with great comedians such as Thuy Nga, Kieu Oanh, Ut Map... Occasionally, he also flies back to Vietnam to act and stage for the Stadium. Hong Van theater, leaving many contributions to oral drama.

Coming to the US since 1997 and also struggling with the profession, but artist Le Tin was not as lucky as many other colleagues, so he did not have a resounding reputation.

Therefore, after 25 years of living abroad, the life of artist Le Tin is still full of difficulties and obstacles, making everyone feel sorry for him.

Had to stay in the warehouse, was kicked out by his senior's wife

When he first came to the US with his family, Le Tin settled in Minnesota. For a while, he asked his father to let him go to Cali to do art activities because there are many Vietnamese people living here. He also dared to tear the ticket back when he was on the plane to be determined to follow the profession.

However, because he didn't know English, didn't have a driver's license and couldn't even put money into a payphone, he had a lot of trouble leaving his family.

Arriving in Cali, Le Tin was allowed to stay at the warehouse by comedian Ut Map, sleeping on his father's chair, which was quite inconvenient. He said: "At my father's house, there are 4, 5 rooms, spacious and fully equipped, but I don't stay, I go to someone else's warehouse.

I trade everything like that to be able to follow the artistic path, meet the audience and do my job, live and die with the profession."

But after only a few days, Ut Map did not allow Le Tin to stay and said directly: "Go find another room and stay, my wife won't let you stay at my house anymore". Le Tin had to call comedian Be Fat to ask for a place to stay.

During the stay at Be Map's house, Le Tin had to work as a construction assistant because there was no show. He doesn't want to plagiarize other people.

Was fired by Van Son because of script comments

After that, Le Tin called his father and asked him for $500 to buy a dilapidated car to learn to drive. He said: "I called back, and my father agreed to give me 500 dollars to buy a car. I bought an old car that was dented, and could only sit two people in the front."

Having a driver's license, Le Tin rented a private room to live in and turned to work as a lathe. He has to work continuously from 11 pm to 5 am, with a meager salary, just enough to pay for the house and monthly meals.

Some time later, Le Tin was lucky enough to be called by Van Son, who put him in the center of the senior to film the first play.

Le Tin had to write the script himself to give it to Van Son for approval. However, when looking back at the script, an incident happened, causing him to temporarily quit acting. He recounted:

"After filming, I looked at the new script and panicked because it was clear that this was the script I wrote but the author's name was strange.

I asked Mr. Ut Map, he said: "You are a new and strange artist, so I have to give it a different name, otherwise no one will see it".

I agreed, but also added: "Next time I tell Van Son to remember to leave your name".

For some reason, I just said that, but Van Son pushed me out of the center and couldn't perform. So I had to go back to work again."

Had to cut 2/3 of the liver

Later, Le Tin was invited by artist Kieu Oanh to perform in many places overseas and experienced many ups and downs. In which, the biggest event was having to cut off 2/3 of his liver, causing him to fall into despair and stalemate. He confided:

"The period when I felt the most secret, with almost no way out, was probably the time to stop acting with Kieu Oanh.

At that time, I had just finished filming the play God's Husband and My Wife for two days when I had a liver infection, had to be hospitalized and had two-thirds of the liver removed.

At that time, the show with Kieu Oanh was already accepted, but I couldn't go, so I had to ask Le Huynh to act for me. Two months after I recovered, I found out that Le Huynh had replaced me with Kieu Oanh as well, so I lost my place.

At that time, I was also worried because I lived by singing and acting, now I don't know what to do. But fortunately, I still got the Wound. Later, I met Ms. Trang Thanh Lan, Uncle Bao Quoc, Thuy Nga, Quang Minh, Hong Dao, ... everyone loved and accepted to perform with me."

25 years in the US still no home

Currently, artist Le Tin is nearly 50 years old and has spent 25 years settling in the US, but life is still very precarious. He still doesn't even have his own house and has to share a room with a friend.

Le Tin's current job is not enough to create a sustainable income for him, mainly to satisfy his passion. He shared:

"Currently, I not only perform, but also do many things in the reformed troupe such as costumes, make-up, and hair. I do everything myself, but no one pays my salary, only the Congregational Group. just pay.

To tell the truth to everyone, the current reformation, whether at home or abroad, is sluggish and difficult to make money. We try to maintain activities to keep the fire for this art overseas.

Don't think that the other jobs I do are simple and complicated. As for dressing up for a reformed artist, it was difficult and confusing, so I had to do it for everyone.

Most of the reformed costumes in the group were bought by me with my money. I am passionate about investing in this profession.

In the room I'm in, there's a small warehouse where there are hundreds of costumes, many, from clothes to hats and props.

Before, the audience saw me acting as a comedian, so they thought I was just a comedian. But really, my passion is more for Cai Luong."
