According to the investigation, the boy lives with his father at the house on Thoai Ngoc Hau street, Tan Phu district. Recently, he had to take care of relatives in the hospital, so he sent his child to a woman living in Ma Lo alley, Binh Tan district, to take care of him.

On the afternoon of January 15, this woman took the baby to Binh Tan District Hospital for emergency treatment in a state of coma, rapid pulse, dilated pupils, weak light reflex, pink foam in the endotracheal tube, maintained by doctors. Breathe by squeezing the balloon. The victim was transferred to Children's Hospital 1 soon after but stopped breathing.

Examination results showed that the boy had severe cerebral edema, subdural hemorrhage, possibly due to trauma or disease. In addition, many parts of the baby's body such as armpits and hips have bruises. Suspecting the victim was being abused, the doctors informed the police.

At first, the woman said she had nothing to do with the baby's death, then admitted to hitting her because the baby urinated on her pants. When the boy vomited in the toilet, she hit his head with a comb. When she discovered the boy was purple, she took him to the emergency room.

On the afternoon of November 19, the People's Court of Hanoi issued first-instance sentences of two defendants Nguyen Minh Tuan (31 years old) and Nguyen Thi Lan Anh (29 years old, living at P. Le Dai Hanh, Hai Ba district. Trung, Hanoi). In court, the two defendants did not admit to having beaten the girl 6 times, causing traumatic brain injury and death. However, the examination results that the examiners announced in court exposed this crime. In order to avoid the crime, the two defendants continued to believe that they were coerced, but the Trial Panel found this testimony to be unfounded.

Through the documents contained in the case file and the progress of the trial, the jury had enough grounds to determine that on March 5, Lan Anh picked up baby M. to a motel room in Dong Da district to play. On March 29, Lan Anh and Tuan used drugs, then both beat and abused the child many times. Tuan hit the baby on the head and hit the baby with a metal broom handle; and Lan Anh used a sewing needle to stab her daughter's biceps and thighs.

On the morning of March 30, baby M. asked to drink water, but Tuan hit him repeatedly on the head. Seeing her daughter having difficulty breathing, Lan Anh took her to the emergency room, but the baby died from traumatic brain injury.

The jury said that in this case, Tuan was the leader, coaxed his wife to use drugs and directly caused the death of baby M. As for Lan Anh, this defendant did not directly raise the child, but he and Tuan caused the death. death for the baby. At the end of the trial, Nguyen Minh Tuan was sentenced to death for murder, 24 months in prison for possession and illegal use of narcotics, the total penalty was death. Defendant Nguyen Thi Lan Anh was sentenced to life in prison for murder, 18 months in prison for illegal possession and use of narcotics.
