In fact, this "cloud cobra" is an image of a train passing through Hai Van Pass. Seen from above, regardless of whether it is towards the forest or the sea, this image is too magnificent. In the midst of the vast mountain forest, a meandering, creeping train appears, sneaking behind the trees, which is indeed reminiscent of a giant snake crawling around the mountainside.

Along the railway line passing through Hai Van Pass, visitors can admire the breathtaking scenery, when on one side is the vast green Lang Co beach - on the other side is the majestic mountains and forests. The scenery is just like stepping out of poems!

There are many railway lines passing through Hai Van Pass for passengers to experience, depending on their travel needs. Most of the trains through the pass move slowly, around 15km/h due to the zigzag tracks, on the rugged mountain embankment. After many years, the image of the "cloud cobra" - the North-South train is also known by many international friends. Notably, in 2023, Lonely Planet - one of the world's largest travel handbooks has released a list of the 8 most beautiful railways in the world and our North-South railway has topped this list. This makes Vietnamese people feel extremely proud. This also contributes to bringing the image of Vietnam's trains in particular and the image of Vietnamese tourism to more international friends.

Talking about the real cloud cobra, according to Tien Phong newspaper, what is special is that everyone's description, in different regions of this snake is the same, like a golden moldy body, carrying a large arm like a mother, two eyes that are bright red in the night, like the wind blowing on the top of a tree...

However, the size of this snake is described by each region. In the That Son region, it is as big as an old jaggery tree; In the U Minh Ha area (Ca Mau), snakes have a body as big as a cow's skin spit (large jar); U Minh Thuong (Kien Giang), the cobra is only the size of a plug.

This suggests that it is more likely that the descriptions of snakes come from one or a certain group of people, spreading rumors throughout the region. Among the descriptions of giant snakes, the most terrible must be mentioned is the cloud tiger on Phu Quoc Island. People all over the pearl island know about the cloud tiger, telling the story clearly about the cloud tiger as if they were witnessed. However, Mr. Tuan affirmed that clouded tigers as big as a thermos are real and used to be abundant in Phu Quoc. Thus, it can be believed that the giant cloud cobra in the West is a real species.
