YG Entertainment saw impressive growth in business activities in Q4 last year, thanks to the boom of girl group BABYMONSTER along with TREASURE's vibrant activities.
This success not only helps the company strengthen its position in the Korean entertainment industry, but also opens up many strong growth opportunities this year, especially with BLACKPINK's world tour.
In its Q4 financial report, YG Entertainment recorded preliminary revenue of KRW 104.1 billion (equivalent to approximately USD 81.7 million), operating profit of KRW 990 million (approximately USD 758,000), and net profit of KRW 20.88 billion (equivalent to approximately USD 16.1 million).
Compared to the previous quarter, revenue increased by 24.6%, and both operating profit and net profit turned positive. This is a good sign for the company after the fluctuations in the music and entertainment market.
YG Entertainment's Q4 success was mainly driven by the activities of key artists such as BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. Analyst Lee Hwa-jung from NH Investment & Securities said that album sales, success on global music platforms along with revenue from BABYMONSTER's pop-ups have far exceeded initial expectations.
Specifically, BABYMONSTER's debut album has achieved impressive sales of 840,000 copies, making an important contribution to the company's positive financial results. In addition, TREASURE also contributes to increasing revenue through digital singles and performance activities.
Entering 2025, YG Entertainment continues to set high expectations for upcoming activities, especially the large-scale tours of BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and TREASURE.
BLACKPINK: The company's flagship girl group will kick off a world tour in July in South Korea, with 13 performances in 10 cities. Analyst Choi Min-ha from Samsung Securities expects that the scale of the tour will continue to expand, contributing significantly to concert ticket sales and merchandise. It is expected that BLACKPINK will have about 60 performances at stadiums around the globe, including encore concerts.
BABYMONSTER: This rookie girl group will have their first world tour with a scale that is predicted to be "unusually large". With the success of their debut album and wide coverage, BABYMONSTER has the potential to become a new generation girl group to help YG Entertainment maintain its growth momentum.
Recently, the group also caused a stir when announcing the official ticket prices for the world tour, including ticket prices in Vietnam. Specifically, on the afternoon of February 27, the producer (NSX) of the 2025 concert BABYMONSTER 1st World Tour: Hello Monsters officially announced the ticket prices and seating map for the concert in Vietnam. Tickets will be distributed via Ticketbox with ticket classes including VIP PACKAGE (5,500,000 VND), CAT 1 (4,200,000 VND), CAT 2 (3,400,000 VND) and CAT 3 (2,800,000 VND).
Notably, all ticket classes are in the standing area. VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity to participate in the soundcheck or post-concert social activities (send-off). This information immediately sparked a wave of heated debate in the Kpop fan community.
Ticket prices from 2.8 million to 5.5 million VND in Vietnam are considered reasonable. Compared to the concert of the two seniors in the same house - BLACKPINK and 2NE1, which have significantly higher ticket prices, this price accurately reflects BABYMONSTER's position.
Moreover, the concert in Vietnam does not take place in a large-scale stadium but is limited to the space of the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) with a capacity of about 8,000 people. Therefore, the ticket price cannot be too low if you want to ensure the quality of the organization.
Launched in 2023, BABYMONSTER is a new generation girl group of YG Entertainment - the company that successfully created BLACKPINK and 2NE1. Although they have only been active for almost two years, the group has made a splash with several hits such as Batter Up and Sheesh.
BABYMONSTER flatters 2NE1, ignores BLACKPINK at concert, still achieves great results? Snow15:02:03 25/01/2025Today (January 25), BABYMONSTER's world tour will officially kick off. Here, the 7 female idols will do something special for the group in the same company - 2NE1.
