Bab.y Monster made their first live performance on a music show, marking their comeback with a new stage. The group performed on SBS's "Inkigayo" with their two title tracks, Clik Clak and Drip.
Opening with Clik Clak, Bab.y Monster caught the attention of YG's signature hip-hop style. The group's rap style on a minimalist background caught the attention of the audience. Member Luka took off his sunglasses in a daring move that caught the attention of fans.
During the performance of Drip, the 7 members radiated positive energy. Their expressions and performances contributed to the song's appeal. With strong body-shaking movements to the rhythm, Bab.y Monster stirred up the crowd.
The group's vocals are most notable, complimented by their powerful dance moves. Their raps are also praised for their sharpness and impressive high notes.
Bab.y Monster is set to begin full-scale promotions. The group is currently appearing on SBS's Running Man. The group also plans to continue to be active on music shows, radio, YouTube, and other platforms.
According to Circle Album Chart (formerly Gaon Chart) which released its chart for this week's update, Bab.y Monster's first full-length album "Drip" released on November 1 debuted at No. 1 on the chart, with 444,674 copies sold. This achievement helps to solidify the group's popularity and their efforts in the first week of this album's release.
According to Korean media, the song "Clik Clak" from Bab.y Monster's first full-length album "Drip" has been determined by the music evaluation board of Korean station KBS to be ineligible for broadcast.
"Clik Clak" violated Article 46 of KBS Broadcasting Review Regulations, as the lyrics mentioned specific product brands such as Ferrari, Cartier, Maybach.
According to KBS's music review policy, songs that receive an unqualified rating can be re-submitted for review if they edit or remove problematic parts. Only songs that pass the review can be played on KBS programs (TV, radio, etc.). This means that Bab.y Monster will not be able to perform this song on KBS's weekly music program Music Bank.
However, the remaining songs in the album "Drip" including "Drip", "Love, Maybe", "Really Like You", "BILLIONAIRE", "Love In My Heart", "Woke Up In Tokyo (Ruka & Asa)" have all passed the review. "Clik Clak" is the double title track of the album "Drip". The music video of this song, released on YouTube on October 30, has attracted 45 million views after 1 week.
Meanwhile, the MV for "Drip" surpassed 50 million views in 5 days. YG Entertainment has released dance performance videos for both songs. In addition, Bab.y Monster is expected to continue promoting through music shows, radio, and other platforms.
Bab.y Monster's performance in Korea has not been great, but the group's international performance is quite positive. The song "Drip" has entered both the global Spotify and global Apple Music charts.
BABYMONSTER is not the first group under YG Entertainment to be "whistled" by the famously strict KBS station, unable to pass the censorship to broadcast.
Previously, music products of BLACKPINK (KIL.L THIS LOVE), BIGBANG (Fxxt It), 2NE1 (I'm Busy), iKON (Bling Bling and B-Day), WINNER (Everyday), were all banned by KBS for different reasons, making fans no longer surprised that YG artists could not pass the station's censorship. Some humorous opinions even said that being banned by KBS seemed to have become an "underground tradition" of YG artists.
