Hans Christian Andersen (born 1805 - died 1875) was a Danish, the father of famous works such as "The Little Mermaid", "The Little Match Girl", "The Brave Lead Soldier"...

Attached to the childhood of children around the world, Andersen has brought colorful fairy tales through every word, he has become a writer of "child readers" of all time.

Despite the harsh laws of time, the Danish writer's delicate and meaningful fairy tales are still admired today. Andersen was born into a poor family. His father, a shoemaker, died when Andersen was 11 years old, leaving him with his mother and sister. In childhood, Hans Christian Andersen was a boy who loved to play with dolls, always lonely, withdrawn, less sociable, hyperactive like his peers.

After her husband died, Andersen's mother had to work as a laundromat. The future writer had to take the first cultural classes in his life at a school for poor children. There are only catechism, writing and behavior teaching. Young Hans Christian is not good at studying, often forgets to prepare lessons. He just enjoys telling his friends about stories he has come up with and the main character in them is also him. Of course, no one believes those stories to be true.

Fortunately, Andersen's father, although poor, loved literature and had a bookcase. His father dedicated a space to store precious literary books. It was the father who instilled in his son a love for books: At night, read to him historical novels, short stories and the Bible... Literary works, especially plays by William Shakespeare and Ludvig Holberg and Andersen have both read them. These hobbies and habits gradually turned boy Andersen into a literary enthusiast. In his diary, Andersen once said: "Reading is my only pastime, it is also the thing that excites me the most."

The father also instilled in his son the habit of daydreaming and even built a family puppet theater for the future writer, so that the boy Hans Christian "invented" the content of the plays himself. In addition to his passion for reading, Andersen also has a great headset. The hiding allowed the boy to focus more on what others were saying. This greatly influenced the subtle details and rich imagination of his fairy tales. Nourished by books and folk tales passed down by word of mouth in a small town, a stream of fairy tales began to spring up in Andersen's mind. Poor family background and iron will made him more determined to reach out in society.

After studying at a school for poor children, at the age of 14, Andersen left Odense and moved to Copenhagen to pursue a career in songwriting. Despite trying to do all kinds of jobs to earn money, Andersen still fell into poverty, was despised by others.

The best job that Andersen ever did before officially entering the professional writing path was as an actor in the Royal Danish Theatre. When his voice broke, writing was the last job he chose to stick to for the rest of his life. To get himself out of a lonely life, Andersen turned to writing stories for children. Breaking away from the standards of social morality, he brought people beautiful, fairy and dreamy colors, what the reality of society at that time could not bring.

After 10 years of struggling in the capital Copenhagen, luck smiled on Andersen when he was helped by Jonas Collin, one of the directors of the Royal Theatre. Collin was so impressed with Andersen's ability to write that he applied for a scholarship to the University of Copenhagen, in 1828. Just a year later, Andersen wrote his first play, Love in the Tower of St. Nicholas's Cathedral. In 1833, Andersen received a royal pension and began touring throughout Europe, composing while walking.

In Italy, he began to write the novel "The Improviser". After writing and publishing this work, Andersen became one of the most illustrious writers in Europe at that time. In 1834, Andersen returned to Denmark. And began the period of publishing the works that helped him "save the history": fairy tales for children. These stories (including "The Little Mermaid", "The Princess and the Pea"...) are collected in three volumes.

In the 40s of the 18th century, Andersen wrote a series of short stories and fairy tales for publication in the volume "Fairy" with the note that it was a book for both children and adults: "A picture book without pictures. ", "The Pigman", "The Nightingale", "The Wild Goose", "The Snow Queen", "The Little Girl", "The Little Match Girl", "The Shadow", "A Mother" ... Open and innocent, he creates a dreamy, passionate but no less logical narrative style. Beautiful and emotional, readers find joy in reading Andersen's stories, with a child's sensibility rather than a rigid compulsion.

With a huge fortune in fairy tales, Anderden is known as "the king of fairy tales". According to UNESCO, Hans Christian Andersen is the eighth most translated writer in the world. His works have been translated into 125 different languages, but not all translations guarantee the meaning of the original story that the Danish writer wanted to tell.

On August 1, 1875, the writer Andersen died in his mansion in Copenhagen. He was interred at Aistens cemetery in the Danish capital. On the day of his funeral, as recorded by his contemporaries, the whole city of Copenhagen became sad and seemed to want nothing more than to give Andersen a worthy funeral. That day has been considered Denmark's national mourning.

With a huge fortune in fairy tales, Anderden is known as "the king of fairy tales". The newspaper that day published the poetic line: "Today the emperor leaves the throne / The throne cannot be sat ..." to describe his irreplaceable role with Denmark and the whole world.
