Despite being famous and influential young people on social media, these young people chose to "cover up" their charity money. Now that they have been exposed, some have shut down their personal pages, while others have had to speak up to admit and apologize.
After the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front posted 12,028 pages of statements of donations to people affected by storm No. 3, to ensure transparency, helping everyone to track all donations in the past time.
Also through the disclosure of statements, a prominent issue that suddenly caught people's attention was that many people intentionally "inflated" the amount of charity money. Notably, these people are also very famous on social networks and have influence on young people.
The first notable case is that of Louis Pham (full name Pham Nhu Phuong) - a former gymnast. Accordingly, on his personal page, Louis Pham posted a picture of a money transfer to the account of the Central Relief Mobilization Committee but used an icon to cover the 8 digits. This is why many people believe that Louis Pham donated tens of millions of dong to flood victims.
However, through checking the statement, the actual amount that Louis Pham contributed was only 500,000 VND. In this statement, from the account name to the message, everything matches what she posted.
Even more noteworthy, after being accused of "fabricating" and "inflating" the amount of charity money, Louis Pham affirmed that he had nothing to do with what the online community was sharing.
"I don't know if this could be me or not. Because there could be people with the same name and the same content. Moreover, I transferred money to different account numbers, with the same or different content. Therefore, I still won't make it public," Louis Pham shared.
However, Louis Pham's explanation did not receive any sympathy from the online community.
The next person to stir up the online community was TikToker Viet Anh Pi Po (real name Phung Viet Anh). Previously, Viet Anh posted a photo showing him transferring money with a hidden amount, but through the exposed image, many people guessed the amount was up to tens of millions of VND. However, on the evening of September 12, when netizens checked the statement from the Fatherland Front Committee, the actual amount that Viet Anh transferred was only 1 million VND.
Immediately afterwards, on September 13, TikToker Viet Anh Pi Po (real name Phung Viet Anh) apologized after being complained about for "flattering" in showing off his flood relief fund transfer in the North.
"Sorry everyone for the cover-up. The images and information you received are real. And the fact that I covered it up is also real," Viet Anh shared in a video posted on the morning of September 13.
Also a famous person on social networks, content creator Duong Anh CoinBit was also accused by people of "inflating" the amount of money donated to overcome the consequences caused by super typhoon Yagi.
While he shared information to support flood victims with 100 million VND. However, the actual amount from the statement was only 10,000 VND. In response to the harsh reactions of netizens, Duong Anh CoinBit did not respond. Currently, this name has locked his personal pages.
In fact, charity comes from the heart of each person. Therefore, any contribution deserves to be respected and recognized. However, just to polish their name, many young people choose to "cover" charity money. This not only makes your contribution lose value but also makes you lose credibility in the eyes of many people.
On September 13, in Hanoi, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien received support from agencies, businesses, organizations and individuals at home and abroad to support people affected by storm No. 3. As of 5:00 p.m. on September 13, 2024, organizations and individuals had transferred 775.5 billion VND to the account of the Central Relief Mobilization Committee.
From the amount received, the Central Relief Mobilization Committee has decided to allocate and complete the procedures to transfer the first batch of VND 388.5 billion to the Local Relief Committees. The remaining funds will be reviewed by the Central Relief Mobilization Committee to be distributed as soon as possible to the localities affected by storms and floods.
