Last Friday the 13th, the entire internet was suddenly in an uproar when the congress of "phong ban" massively purges social networks. Accordingly, TikToker Viet Anh Pi Po had to apologize for showing off a flood relief transfer when in reality the amount was much different.
Vietnamese TikToker Pi Po (real name Phung Viet Anh) has apologized after being criticized for showing off his donation to help flood victims in the North. His apology video quickly attracted attention, but did not calm netizens' doubts.
Previously, Viet Anh posted a photo showing him transferring money with a hidden amount, but through the exposed image, many people guessed the amount was up to tens of millions of dong. However, on the evening of September 12, when netizens checked the statement from the Fatherland Front Committee, the actual amount that Viet Anh transferred was only 1 million dong.
"I apologize to everyone for the falsehood. The images and information you received are real. And the fact that I falsely claimed it is also real," Viet Anh shared in a video posted on the morning of September 13. He admitted that the amount of money he showed off was far from the actual amount transferred, and explained that the incident was caused by a friend in the group.
According to Viet Anh, on the morning of September 10, his group planned to transfer 20 million VND to support. He asked someone in the group to make the transfer, but told that person to cover up the amount to "make a scene". When he discovered the truth, he quickly transferred back the 20 million VND as originally planned.
However, the online community did not completely believe this explanation. Many opinions said that if he wanted to transfer 20 million VND, he would have to scan his facial biometrics himself, and could not ask someone else to. In response, Viet Anh said that his friend gave him the phone to scan his biometrics. However, there were opinions pointing out that if he only transferred 1 million VND, the banking application would not require biometric verification, raising more questions.
Just a few hours after posting, Viet Anh's apology video attracted more than 300,000 views and nearly 3,000 comments. Viet Anh affirmed that he would not delete the video or block comments, and pledged to listen to all comments from viewers as a lesson for himself. Despite publicly apologizing and explaining, this TikToker's "backdrop" story still leaves many big questions in the hearts of followers.
Accordingly, the "Congress" of the biggest apology in 2024 for the banner has caused a stir on the entire internet after the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) published 12,028 pages of statements of donations from groups and individuals to people affected by storm No. 3. As of 5:00 p.m. on September 12, the total amount of money donated from September 1 to September 10 through the VFF account was 527.8 billion VND.
Not only individuals but also fanpages have been criticized for "covering" the amount of donations. One of the most notable cases is the fanpage supporting Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai whose name starts with "Hoi seeding" with 46k followers.
Accordingly, this page once announced the donation amount as 20 million VND, but after clarifying the statement, netizens discovered that the transferred amount was 200k. Therefore, people came to the page to demand to know the truth.
Early in the morning of September 13, this page explained and apologized, saying that this came from an admin in the group. Currently, this admin has proactively confessed and has also had his admin rights revoked.
Not only the donation banner, the statement also made netizens reveal surprising "embezzlement" cases.
Specifically, in a group of pass items, the admin carefully checked the support transactions of the person who called for donations in the group and discovered a case of fraud. Accordingly, a person named KL auctioned an item worth 6 million, received additional donations from several other people to reach 10 million and declared that he would donate this amount.
However, the amount that KL actually donated was only 100k. Therefore, the admin announced the incident for everyone to verify: "I extremely, extremely hate embezzling from the charity money of kind-hearted people who trusted you and asked you to send to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to overcome natural disasters, but you did that. I was very disappointed, so at midnight I posted directly on the group for everyone to verify with me."
