Musician Vu Hoang, one of the illustrious names in the Vietnamese music industry, has spent more than 40 years dedicating himself to the music industry with lifelong compositions. He was also an influential teacher, editor and cultural organizer.
Musician Vu Hoang, whose real name is Vu Bao Hoang, was born on April 23, 1956 in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai. After graduating from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in 1976, he not only chose the path of teaching but also continued to pursue his passion for music. In 1989, Vu Hoang graduated from the Faculty of Composition - Theory - Conducting at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, marking an important turning point in his music career.
But before becoming a famous musician, Vu Hoang took humble early steps in the field of composition. His first song, "Send Me Back", although composed when he had not officially studied music, was well received by the public. It was this song that opened up a promising songwriting journey for musician Vu Hoang.
Starting from small songs, Vu Hoang gradually became a familiar name with songs associated with generations of students and students. In particular, "Pink Phoenix" is an outstanding work, which has become a symbol for the ag.e of students. The song not only depicts the innocent and pure beauty of student love but also becomes an indispensable part of students' farewell ceremonies. Other songs such as "Green Summer," "Fragrance," "Chalk Dust," were also warmly received by the public, depicting beautiful memories of youth, friendship and pure love.
Vu Hoang is one of the pioneers in creating songs that reflect the spirit of social life, especially the lives of young people. He not only composes for generations of students but also devotes a lot of enthusiasm to children's songs. With more than 50 children's songs, Vu Hoang has made a significant contribution to the development of children's music in Vietnam.
Musician Vu Hoang was the first to propose to organize the Most Favorite Artist Vote in 1991, then renamed the Golden Plum Award. This is not only a milestone in his career but also contributes to promoting the cultural and artistic movement in Vietnam. His image is also associated with major art programs, especially concerts and performing arts programs for young people.
Throughout his career, Vu Hoang was not only a musician but also an influential teacher. He has taught for many years at the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts of Ho Chi Minh City College of Education. As a lecturer, Vu Hoang not only imparts professional knowledge but also inspires the younger generation about love and passion for music. His students have been continuing the path of composing and contributing to Vietnamese music.
But Vu Hoang's life was not always smooth. In early 2015, after a business trip to Long An, he suddenly suffered a stroke and had to be admitted to an emergency hospital. Although his initial health condition was very serious, thanks to timely care and a strong fightin.g spirit, he overcame the danger and began the recovery process. However, after this stroke, Vu Hoang's health is no longer the same as before. But this did not subdue him, on the contrary, Vu Hoang continued to compose and dedicate himself to music, although he had to undergo long-term treatment and regularly practiced rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, musician Vu Hoang's wife also encountered some health problems and had to be treated at home. Therefore, his children had to take turns taking care of both parents during this difficult time.
However, Vu Hoang did not give up. After a long time of facing illness, at the end of October 2020, the musician held a simple but cozy wedding ceremony for his son. This is one of the great joys for his family. Although his health has not fully recovered, he still tries to stand on stage to welcome his new daughter-in-law, proving his extraordinary energy and resilience to overcome all challenges.
Despite going through many ups and downs in life, Vu Hoang's music has always endured and stuck with generations. The song "Chalk Dust", composed more than 40 years ago, continues to accompany many generations of teachers and students on each arduous journey. The song "Green Summer" has also become a part of the memories of volunteer students, listeners always feel the sincerity and enthusiasm that Vu Hoang has sent in each melody.
Musician Vu Hoang always believes that real music will have a way of lasting life, because it comes from real life and emotions. This is evident in his compositions, from children's songs to songs for students, students and music lovers. His compositions are not merely songs, but stories, songs imbued with emotion and vitality.
