In a new video posted on social networks, the "papaya salad saint" Ty Thy announced the closure of the restaurant in Binh Duong since November 4 after nearly 6 months of moving from Saigon to here for business but not positively.
This information made people extremely surprised because Ty Thy's shop in Binh Duong was still quite crowded on weekends.
According to Ty Thy shared: "Thy was touched when everyone knew that I was off to support, help me with the capital to return to Saigon to reopen the shop".
Saying the reason for closing the shop, Ty Thy confided: "I also think it's about 3-4 months to sell here. Firstly, there are many workers and factories here. In the city, people are crowded, places and provinces flock to it. Actually, trade without getting one place or another. That's life, I don't have anything to worry about or I'm sad about. The only problem is that people scold Thy a lot. As for the food, I don't say. But I said that I sold salad and went to make charms, now I am out of spirit, out of time. Cluster buds. It's too much for me to say that."
However, there is an opinion that Ty Thy closed the shop because she was disturbed by the hands of "brothers and sisters", unfair competition.
Specifically, recently, Ty Thy shared that she was physically impacted by a group of strangers while at a restaurant. She didn't understand what was happening even though she and this group of people were still talking happily before.
In addition, people also spread a clip of 1 of them coming to Ty Thy's shop to talk. But because there was no sound, I don't know what the two said, but the atmosphere was quite tense.
It can be seen that, in 6 years of operation, Ty Thy has successfully built an image of a skillful beauty with a warm and graceful way of communication.
Previously, in mid-2024, she heartbroken to announce the closure of the Saigon branch.
She confided: "I was very sad when I had to close, but compared to before, the number of customers decreased by half, affecting revenue. I sell a lot, but I also run out of mone.y except for expenses. If I want to make ends meet, I have no choice but to sell alone or hire 2-3 employees, I can't afford to expand. On the other hand, I want to reduce the size of the shop to have more time to rest and take care of myself."
At the end of 2023, Ty Thy once revealed about her economic crisis. She had to reduce her employee salary from 9 million VND to 7.5 million VND, accepting losses for many months in a row.
However, according to some diners, the unstable quality of the dishes compared to the first time of opening for sale is part of the reason why the number of customers is gradually decreasing.
"In 2022, the salad is very delicious, the papaya is crispy and the sweet and sour taste is harmonious. Later, the salad was pre-stabbed, so the papaya was a little weak, the taste was dark and sometimes light due to uneven mixing. The price of 60,000 VND is quite high compared to the ration. The restaurant space is also quite noisy and stuffy, there are still many paper towels on the table that have not been cleaned," said diner Thu Doan (living in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City) commented.
Sharing the same feeling, Khanh Ly (living in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City) said: "In the past, papaya salad and fried beef balls were the dishes I always ordered when I came to the restaurant. But at present, the quality of the dish is uneven, sometimes it is too salty when you eat it. The deliciousness of fried beef balls also depends on the day. In my opinion, after selling too many dishes, we no longer focus much on quality."
It is known that after closing the shop in Binh Duong, Ty Thy will return to her old house as she once shared: "If returning to Binh Duong is still not favorable, I will move the shop back to the house I live in on Ben Phu Lam Street (District 6) to help with cash. The menu will be shortened, only selling a few dishes like the first day. The scale is smaller, but it is enough to live."
Ty Thy (34 years old), a native of Cambodia, once emerged as an online phenomenon through a video "both pounding and chatting" in 2019. The funny, graceful and honest way of speaking has made the transgender gir.l receive a lot of attention.
