"In 1973, while on a tour in Central Vietnam, my car overturned and my jaw broke. I had to tie my jaw and I couldn't drink and stopped my shift for a while. One time while filming, I stepped down from the stage and lost my leg and suffered a fractured leg and spent several years in the hospital. After 1975, I couldn't go to hἀn but then I went back to the stage and chose songs that matched the body bἀn to hάt."

After 1975, many singers went abroad, but she stayed and continued her singing. She has not been seen in music, theater and television venues for a long time. She occasionally appears in some Buddhist music and charity programs.

Trang My Dung shared that her life changed quite a lot when she became an artist. From an unknown little girl, thanks to her rich voice, she was loved by the audience. "Fans send me a lot of letters, high stacks. When I went out on the street, the audience pointed at me and said, 'My Dung page,'" the singer recalled.

The sudden popularity made Trang My Dung self-aware that she was no longer the carefree girl of the old days. She felt she needed to change a lot to be worthy of people's affection for her. In Portrait of a Love Affair, the artist shared: "Going out on the street is no longer as carefree as the girl in the old days who went to school without anyone knowing." "I'm living with my dad and sister. My day is usually simple, waking up, exercising, taking care of bonsai, doing housework and then going online to read the news.
