Since the Thuy Tien case, many shocking cases involving Vietnamese beauty queens have begun to be enthusiastically "excavated" by netizens. Among them, there was a case of a woman serving a 15-year prison sentence.
On the evening of May 19, the Ministry of Public Security issued information on the prosecution and temporary detention of Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (Miss Grand International 2021) for the crime of "Deceiving customers", stipulated in Clause 2, Article 198 of the Penal Code, as an accomplice of the defendants of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company.
After that, the authorities searched Thuy Tien's residence in an apartment building (District 4, Ho Chi Minh City), confiscating a number of documents for investigation. Immediately, the images inside the beauty's apartment that had been posted on vlogs and livestreams were "dug up" by netizens.
Previously, Thuy Tien revealed the apartment space in a house cleaning video. The beauty queen's house is designed in a modern style, the main color is white combined with brown, minimalist interior. Many viewers were surprised because she is a famous face in the Vietnamese entertainment industry but her living space is extremely simple and ordinary.
Although her living space is simple, Thuy Tien is definitely a beauty who owns a "huge" fortune. She also has an extremely high salary, and can earn tens of billions of dong in a few months. However, being prosecuted for fraud and violating the law has completely destroyed the beautiful image she has built for many years, putting an end to her career.
The public was disappointed with Thuy Tien, but did not forget to remind her of a series of other beauties who had been in trouble with the law in the past. They also made a name for themselves in beauty contests at home and abroad, but "fell" into the path of crime, and had to pay the price by being prosecuted, tried, and sentenced to prison.
The most prominent is Truong Ho Phuong Nga, born in 1987 in Hanoi. In 2007, she was crowned Miss Vietnam in Russia, then returned home to participate in a number of events and artistic activities. In September 2016, she was suddenly arrested and prosecuted because businessman Cao Toan My accuse.d her of fraud and embezzlement of 16.5 billion VND.
The case was shocking not only because of the large sum of mone.y but also because of the thrilling details such as the "love contract" that was brought up in court. Although Phuong Nga's investigation was later suspended due to lack of evidence, her image in the public eye was severely damaged.
Vo Thi My Xuan was born in 1983 in Can Tho, won the Miss Mekong South title in 2009. After winning the title, the beauty almost went into hiding, not participating in many artistic activities. In June 2012, she was arrested and sentenced to 30 months in prison in connection with a high-class prostitutio.n and brokerage ring. My Xuan was determined to be the ringleader, in which many models and actresses participated. Thanks to her good behavior, she was released from prison 8 months earlier than her sentence.
Tram Bui (or Tristine Tram Bui) was born in 1986 in Da Nang. In 2008, she immigrated to the US through marriage in Seattle, USA and was crowned Mrs. Global in 2012.
Four years later, Tram Bui was caught up in the law and sentenced to three months in prison when local authorities accuse.d her and her husband, Keith Ly, of growing marijuana in the gardens of three homes in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington.
Tuyet Nga was born in 1961, graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, won the Miss Successful Lady awar.d in 2009. Then, in 2012, she continued to be crowned runner-up at the Miss Vietnam Global pageant in the US.
In April 2013, Tuyet Nga was arrested for fraud and property appropriation while she was the General Director of Vu Anh International General Hospital Company Limited. In July 2014, she was sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to return 3.1 million USD that she had appropriated from customers through "ghost" real estate projects.
The fact that beauties who were once praised for their beauty, talent and representation of Vietnamese beauty are now caught up in legal trouble is not only a sadness for them personally but also a wake-up call for society. In the world of entertainment full of temptations, the spotlight is always bright but it can also easily make people forget the boundaries of right and wrong, law and morality.
Being successful in a beauty pageant does not mea.n that one is immune to the pitfalls of everyday life. On the contrary, fame can become a double-edged sword if the owner does not know how to preserve and live properly.
