Recently, Tran Thanh officially spoke up to clarify the intention behind this controversial naming.

Film director Mai shared that at that time he sympathized with audience Tran Thu Ha's analysis of the film about the mother-daughter relationship of the character Binh Minh (played by actress Uyen An). That's why Tran Thanh commented below the analysis: "You write so well, next to Mai are Binh Minh and Duong, both are the light of Mai's life. But Dawn will be bright! But on the other side is Trung. Duong. Even though it's sunshine, it will fall. Thank you for thinking deeply about the movie."

The male director affirmed that he was fluent in Sino-Vietnamese words and could understand the correct meaning of the vocabulary, but he was originally a comedian so he wanted to compare Trung Duong's humor to sagging sunlight. Tran Thanh also said he could name the character Ali Hoang Duong, Song Luan or Isaac... but still chose Trung Duong because that was the name he found interesting.

In comedy, actors sometimes use words with different sounds and different meanings to create fragments. The simile of the word "Thong Duong" according to Tran Thanh is just for fun, not too important about spelling. Specifically, Tran Thanh said: "I want between Mai to have two people who give her hope, two streams of light to support. The first is Dawn - it's bright, new, forgetting the dark nights of yesterday." . It fits the character's psychology, that when my life is so bad, I want to name my child something more beautiful and optimistic. For the second person, I want to name something related to it. I can choose any name, Anh Duong, Hong Duong, even... Ali Hoang Duong. But I choose Trung Duong.

I am originally a comedian, I like to understand the analogy of Trung Duong as sunshine but it sags. I like that, but how can I not understand what Trung Duong means? I live with Sino-Vietnamese words, how can I not understand? Many people keep painting the story in a serious way, while I just want to understand that it's fun, not saying that's what Trung Duong means? I can understand it in any way I want, but I'm a funny person so I want to understand it in my own cute way. I compare my character like that. No one forced me to name myself Trung Duong? I can name it Song Luan or Isaac."

Through the name, Tran Thanh wants to convey to the audience Mai's life story. It is necessary to meet the right person at the right time for the character of Mai to blossom like the ending of the film.

In addition, Tran Thanh also shared that Mai also means tomorrow, although vague, it symbolizes this character's faith and hope. That's why the two characters Binh Minh and Trung Duong in the film are the two lights of Mai's life. Binh Minh is clear, and the name Duong comes from "sunshine".

If Binh Minh is Mai's perfect companion, Tran Thanh wanted Duong to be something more flawed, so he named it Trung Duong. The director also explained that he is from the South so he heard slack (which is the opposite of the word stretch) and has the same pronunciation, so he left it there.

Tran Thanh also confidently stated: "I'm Chinese (Vietnamese) so there's no way I don't understand what the word Tung Duong means. The name Trung Duong in Mai is, in my implicit understanding, "sunshine". What if you come down?"

However, he also expressed that he did not blame the audience for misunderstanding. He believes that as an artist, you must know how to receive comments and reactions from the audience, and it's important to know how to share them so everyone can understand properly.
