Thought it was a "great design", it turned out that Zero9 - a name that is no longer strange in the Vietnamese music industry, was suddenly "called" back with "copy - paste" of famous names.
Casually bringing SEVENTEEN plagiarism to the national music competition
In recent days, the Vietnamese SEVENTEEN fan community has been boiling with the participation of Luong Bao Duy - Zane (member of Zero9) at a music contest being broadcast on television. In addition to the quality competitions, revealing many potential faces, member Zero9 alone received many negative reactions. The reason is that the song was chosen to bring the male singer's contest under suspicion of plagiarism.
In November 2022, for the first time, a piece of music believed to be composed by member Zero9, introduced through a video on MXH, was shown to have the same melody as " Light a Flame" - a song on SEVENTEEN's 2020 album Semicolon. The piece of music used to perform for a paid theater stage raised suspicions of plagiarism. Soon after, SEVENTEEN's Vietnamese fans demanded an explanation from the owner, repeatedly making objectionable comments, leading to some videos using Light a Flame plagiarism being removed from the platform.
Recently, the incident became noisy again when member Zero9 brought the above song to participate in the idol search contest being broadcast. The performance stage was posted on the program's official platforms, and the digital audio version made Carat - SEVENTEEN fandom not helpless.
But it is worth mentioning that the attitude of member Luong Bao Duy - Zane and his lover - is also the person who is said to be the musician who composed the controversial song.
In both times the controversy broke out, member Zero9 and his friend responded. Instead of giving convincing reasons or giving feedback, the two challenged the SEVENTEEN fandom. Specifically, the couple confirmed to use the beat of Light a Flame and rewrote the lyrics, but did not accept the plagiarism on the grounds that "Light a Flame uses a sample from another original". However, the Instrumental part of Zero9 member uses almost the same as Light a Flame, has been remixed, mixed with its own instruments, copyrighted by member Woozi (SEVENTEEN) and producer Bumzu. Therefore, the above explanation is not accepted.
Not to mention, the defiant attitude, disrespecting the SEVENTEEN Vietnamese fandom makes it difficult for both of them to receive sympathy. The male singer and his friends constantly posted statuses, short clips, used vulgar words to explain the incident but could not give a proper and offensive answer.
It was the insider who pushed the story too far when not only stopping with objectionable posts and comments on social networks, the SEVENTEEN fandom in Vietnam also carried out a "campaign" to protect the idol's products, and sent a letter of denunciation to Pledis Ent., belonging to HYBE.
Leading social networking sites, personal blogs that support SEVENTEEN link up as a group and send content requesting HYPE to take legal action for copyright infringement of the song "Light a Flame". The "campaign" is continuously launched on social networks, attracting the attention of many Kpop fans. In addition, the hashtags about this incident were also promoted on Twitter, making SEVENTEEN's international fans pay attention and couldn't help but feel angry.
Even BTS had to "stick to the palm" 3 times in this "affliction":
Reminds of the "copy - paste" story of this scandalous group. Surely netizens still can't forget the comeback 3 years ago, even international names like BTS can't escape this "trouble".
"Heart Thief" is the first MV of Uni5 (the old name of Zero9) after the group added 4 new members in 2017 including: Tung Maru, Luc Huy, Toof.P and Cody. Using the image of a god corresponding to 6 members, Uni5 is said to have imitated BTS's "Blood, Sweat & Tears" when sharing the same color concept and mysterious and mysterious atmosphere.
According to Kpop fans, the most noticeable similarity in these two MVs is the arrangement of the plot and the choreography. In addition, the image of the statue used metaphorically in "Blood Sweat And Tears" also appears many times in "The Thief of the Heart". Meanwhile, the biggest difference between the 2 MVs is the appearance of a girl - a detail not included in the script of Big Hit's "monster" (HYPE's previous name).
Before the criticism from Kpop fans, Uni5 once again denied the suspicion of plagiarism: "Uni5 asserts that our products are completely unethical of BTS. The music, MV colors, costumes... are completely different, just because a little image like that is labeled "plagiarism", it is unfair to Uni5", but because of accidentally comparing BTS with "the king of the Kpop community" in Vietnam, Big Bang was harshly boycotted by the Kpop community.
Previously, in a clip introducing themselves, Uni5 also made it clear that Uni5 hopes to achieve the same success in the future as BTS did in Korea.Perhaps from this "declaration" that the group continues to have a "re-export" performance, it still bears the boldness of its seniors.
"Lie the whole world for you" is Uni5's most invested product ever, marking the group's comeback after a year of silence. However, in the MV "Lie the whole world for you" there is a choreography that must be 90% of the choreography of "DNA" or the intro and drop of this song is also very easy for listeners to think of " Not Today".
But again and again, in times of being "peeled" it can be said that this is one of the funniest "allegations" from Kpop fans because Vietnamese ARMYs themselves must admit that Uni5 and BTS products have no similarities. However, just because of the reasoning: "there is little smell of "DNA", a part of netizens still attacked Uni5's "Because you are oxygen" even though they themselves could not point out the specific similarities between the two MVs.
It can be said that the "chicken" of the HYPE family is probably the "concept" of Zero9 (also known as Uni5) because most of the times the group is caught in suspicion of plagiarism, they have to name these senior groups. The story of plagiarism in the music industry is not new, but only "copy-paste" a few idols of a certain company, only Zero9 can do it.
