Tet is coming, on social media, Gen Z is constantly releasing and asking for blessings. So do you know the purpose of releasing and asking for blessings? Is this really effective?
Tet Nguyen Dan is the most important holiday of the year for Vietnamese people. During this time, grandparents and parents often have the custom of going to pagodas to pray for a lucky new year. As for Gen Z, instead of "praying", they choose to "ask for luck" - also aiming for a good new year but in a more unique way.
For young people, asking for blessings does not necessarily mea.n going to the place or meeting the person who needs them in person. It is not difficult to see comments asking for acne-free skin right under the clips of beauty bloggers, or posts asking for high salaries like the boss of GenZ employees on social networks. In short, wherever there is "good luck", there is GenZ. Any daily situation can become a "lucky" point, the second most unique GenZ, no one dares to claim to be number one.
However, the trend of asking for luck has been going on for the past few years and seems to have started to make many GenZ feel "monochromatic". GenZ can't help but wonder if they have to passively ask for luck from others forever? And this is the reason for the new trend of "giving up luck" that is making waves among young people this Tet Giap Thin.
For example, over the past year you have traveled to many new lands, then "enduring physical strength" and "the ability to travel to many places" will certainly be the qualities that many other young people hope to "ask" from you.
More interestingly, this Tet, many GenZs are bold enough to "think the opposite", releasing their own spirits to everyone, becoming the beautiful best friend or the top student in the story above. If you passed the university entrance exam with high scores last year, release your spirits to your younger siblings right away. Or if you have just "escaped the single life", then release your spirits to the singles right away. Or even without having any specific achievements, you can still join the "releasing spirits" group because everyone has their own strengths.
Think about what strengths you have that are often praised by others, it could be the ability to mix and match clothes beautifully like a fashionista, the ability to take 10 beautiful photos out of 10, or simply an optimistic and humorous personality, bringing joy to everyone is also a super cool "spirit" that every GenZ wants to receive. Surely, everyone has their own strengths in their community, everyone can become a person who releases spirit and spreads positive energy to everyone around.
Not only Vietnamese but also Westerners are quite interested in things that can bring luck. The phrase "touch wood" or "knock on wood" is living proof of that, these phrases imply that touching wood will bring luck, this culture has existed for centuries in the West. The belief that hittin.g, knocking or touching a piece of wood will bring luck to the person doin.g i.t is still a controversial topic when the origin of the phrases has many different versions.
The origin of the phrase "touch wood" or "knock on wood" comes from European religious traditions. When performing the act of touching wood, it is to call upon the spirits that exist in trees such as ash, hazel, oak, hawthorn with the hope of driving away bad luck. Some others believe that these phrases come from Christianity and are connected to the crucifixion stick of Jesus.
Additionally, to express gratitude for good fortune, the above phrases were used in a children's game called "Tiggy Touchwood", which originated in England in the 19th century, in which players would enter a "safe" state if they touched a tree trunk or wood.
In fact, the actions of asking for help or releasing help are just feelings of admiration for something and this feeling only exists temporarily so it will not have a negative effect or take much time on those who use them. The phrases "asking for help" and "releasing help" have positive meanings and spiritual values, expressing the desire to have a smoother, happier, luckier and more positive life.
To have a life as you always dream, in addition to asking for help from others, you must have a plan, strategy, clear and specific goals and must always cultivate knowledge, improve skills, and strive tirelessly to become the best version of yourself. Don't rely too much on a saying, the key to success is to rely on yourself. Understanding that, you will reap many achievements in life on the feet that you walk. There is nothing happier than when you achieve success on your own feet, right?
