On the evening of September 23, social media went viral with images of Duy Manh performing at an event that had a billboard advertising a betting website. The image caused a stir, leading to many conflicting opinions.
Not long after that, Duy Manh spoke up on his personal page, denying the information about advertising for the betting website. The singer of Kiep Do Den said that the above image was taken at a year-end event, when he performed at a casino in Cambodia.
On the same day, Duy Manh also shared that he often received calls and messages inviting him to advertise gambling websites, but he refused them all. In the attached screenshot of the message, Duy Manh was invited to advertise by a website, persuading him to accept. However, the male singer flatly refused: "I do not advertise gambling."
Duy Manh also talked about the incident where the group Ngu Ho Tuong released a MV that is said to be advertising a betting website that has caused a stir in public opinion recently:
"I also bow to you, fathers. If I were both stupid and greedy, I would now join the Five Tiger Generals club!
Luckily I'm still awake! Thank you, dads! I just like wearing shorts and riding horses, I don't like being a Tiger General. Dads!", the male singer wrote.
In the comment section, Khanh Phuong - one of the members of Ngu Ho Tuong - responded to his senior.
Khanh Phuong said sarcastically: "How dare we, the Five Tiger Generals, accept someone as smart and not greedy as you! I beg you to pay me back! We all walk, how can we ride a Red Hare as classy as you!"
Not giving up, Duy Manh asked a difficult question: "Your grandfather lives in the biggest house! I'm still living in an apartment building! I'm asking you seriously, who gets the most salary for this job? Who gets the least? Tell me quickly! Hehe!"
Previously, netizens were outraged when the MV Anh em truoi sau nhu mot (The brothers before and after) by the group Ngu Ho Tuong (including singers Ung Hoang Phuc, Khanh Phuong, Lam Chan Huy, Duong Ngoc Thai, Luu Hung) appeared with many images related to a betting website. The crew then removed the MV and re-posted a new version, cutting out the controversial scenes.
On his personal page, Khanh Phuong said the group received an invitation to cooperate and sponsor from a company.
The male singer added: "They wanted the logo to appear in a few small scenes in the MV Anh em truoi sau nhu mot. After agreeing, Khanh Phuong assigned the technical team to combine a few scenes with the logo as the audience saw."
Khanh Phuong emphasized that the group did not know that the sponsor was related to betting websites because they believed in the legality of the business registration license. "The group never thought of promoting or advertising anything for gambling-related websites," the male singer said.
Khanh Phuong admitted that he was negligent and subjective when he did not check and review information about the logo appearing in the MV: "This mistake is really too big. Khanh Phuong and his teammates send their deepest and most sincere apologies to the audience."
Khanh Phuong hopes the audience will give him a chance to correct his mistakes: "Currently, the group is actively coordinating with the authorities to clearly explain this issue," the male singer expressed.
Lawyer Truong Van Tuan, Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association, said if the authorities determine that there is an act of combining or inserting advertising content for gambling activities, violators can be handled according to the law.
Specifically, according to Point a, Clause 2, Article 33 of Decree No. 38/2021 (regulating administrative sanctions for violations in the field of culture and advertising), the act of advertising goods and services prohibited from trading as prescribed can be fined from 70 to 100 million VND.
In addition, violators are also subject to remedial measures such as being forced to remove, dismantle, or delete advertisements for the above behavior.
The above fine applies to individuals who violate the law, and for organizations that violate the law, the fine is doubled.
