Supermodel Minh Tu reveals the truth about her marriage with a Western husband for the first time. She was once "culture shocked" and argued over gifts. From a hot-tempered girl who got angry over a designer bag, she now learns to love with reason and endure in silence.
After her grand wedding with her German husband Christopher in April 2024, supermodel Minh Tu received special attention from the media and the audience about her current married life. However, contrary to the perfect appearance that many people mistakenly believe, Minh Tu's married life is not completely "full of roses". Recently, the beauty shared honestly, not afraid to talk about the "stormy" times just because of... a handbag, or how she had to learn from scratch to be a wife not with emotions, but with reason.
The love affair between Minh Tu and Christopher that lasted more than 10 years was not an easy journey. The couple broke up many times, had to take breaks, and then found each other again. "Love for a long time does not mean understanding each other completely. Every time we reunite, we have to learn how to love each other from the beginning," Minh Tu said. The decision to get married after many years of being together was not only a confirmation of feelings, but also the result of a series of internal struggles, especially from Minh Tu, who did not believe in lasting love because she came from a family lacking in affection.
What surprised the public was that after the wedding, she and her husband often argued, and the cause sometimes came from seemingly small things. "When we first fell in love, I often got angry because he didn't give me gifts. In my mind at that time, I thought: my lover has to buy me a handbag, give me flowers. He's not like that. He believes that love lies in small things, like a glass of water at the bedside, not a 500k bouquet of flowers," Minh Tu confided.
There was even a time when the supermodel thought about breaking up because she didn't receive the gifts she wanted. But over time, she learned to look at love through a more mature lens.
Minh Tu frankly admitted that she used to be a hot-tempered person, sometimes arguing to the point of "breaking things to vent anger". The habit of reacting impulsively was formed from an insecure childhood and old traumas that made her husband feel suffocated many times. But since entering married life, Minh Tu has begun to change. "Now, when there is a conflict, I choose to stay silent and write an email to my husband to share my feelings instead of screaming or crying. I know I need to grow up to preserve this happiness," she shared.
She said her husband is not a romantic man, does not know how to surprise or give flowers on holidays. But he has his own way of expressing love, simple and lasting. "Except when he goes on business trips, he always leaves a glass of water by the bedside for me. That is much more valuable than any gift," Minh Tu said emotionally.
Despite their contrasting personalities and cultures, Minh Tu believes that it is their differences that help them learn to reconcile and become more mature in marriage. Christopher - a calm and rational German man - patiently helped her overcome her post-wedding psychological crisis. He is not only a life partner, but also a teacher who helps Minh Tu learn to control her emotions, put her ego aside and cherish every moment together.
However, after the wedding, Minh Tu was involved in a fierce controversy because of her attitude behind the scenes of a reality show recording the wedding ceremony. Netizens strongly condemned the video when it showed her being tense and shouting at the production crew. In the face of the wave of condemnation, the beauty did not avoid it but spoke up to apologize.
She admitted that the pressure and unstable mentality during the days leading up to the wedding made her act out of control. Currently, Minh Tu feels satisfied with her choice. She no longer dreams of brilliant confessions and bouquets of red roses on holidays, but finds happiness in the little things: a breakfast together, a hug after a long tiring day, or a quiet glass of water at the bedside every night. Minh Tu and Christopher's marriage is proof that love does not need to be noisy, just enough understanding and patience to overcome differences together.
