On November 23, the American newspaper New York Times published an interview with Blackpink's Rosé. Here, the female idol recalled her experience as a trainee, saying that she woke up at 9:30 a.m. and practiced until 2 a.m.
"It seems like everyone is really pursuing their dreams and working really hard, but I don't understand the lonely part. The loneliness I went through was a little traumatic. It was a little shocking. But, you know, I survived it," Rosé added.
Rosé also revealed her struggles as an idol, sharing that K-pop idols are always trained to present themselves in the most perfect way, to the point where she would try to give fans the "perfect answer" that fits what fans want, even when interacting online.
However, according to Rosé, K-pop idols are not trained to talk about their emotions, feelings, and experiences.

Regarding her debut as a Blackpink member after being a trainee, she confided: "The first years were very difficult for me personally, but after a few years, I started to adapt to a certain extent and learned to accept new things." When asked what was the most difficult thing, the answer was Kpop fan culture.
"We're trained to present ourselves perfectly all the time, and the same applies when we communicate with our fans online. We're not trained to talk about our feelings and experiences. It's important for me to look like the perfect girl to everyone," Rosé confided.
When it comes to online harassment of female artists, Rosé bursts into tears. She admits that she has experienced this before. However, as a professional artist, she has learned to overcome it: "I'm a pretty strong person so I don't want to react emotionally, but when something like this actually happens, I feel really, really bad.
At times like these, I see songwriting as a way to protect myself from being bullied. Songwriting comes as a blessing at a time when I really need it. I solve a problem, put it into a song, and then it disappears from my mind."
Finally, Rosé mentioned that K-pop agencies have strict rules about dating idols and gave her own opinion on the matter.
"Yeah, it's not normal and it's not normal for me. I've never really talked about it, because I feel like I don't need to confirm anything or talk about it," Rosé said.
Rosé recently rose to international fame with the release of the song APT. - a collaboration with famous pop star Bruno Mars.
Her solo album Rosie, which includes APT., will be released on December 6. Rosé talked about her feelings when she conceived her first solo album: "I dreamed of one day being able to release an album, but I never thought it would come true. I started this whole process last year. When I started working on it, I doubted myself a lot. I felt like I've been waiting my whole life to release this album."
Rosé is currently internationally known for her song APT featuring pop star Bruno Mars. The song entered the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at number 8, making Rosé a new record for a female K-pop artist. APT also entered the UK's Hot 100 Singles chart at number 4.
