After Quyen Linh spoke up about his personal scanda.l, the Vietnam Cinema Association suddenly requested to review and take measures to handle individuals who violated the law related to spreading false information about MC Quyen Linh.
On April 22, Associate Professor Dr. Do Lenh Hung Ta, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association, signed document No. 87/HDA to the Department of Internal Political Security (A03) and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), under the Ministry of Public Security, requesting to handle violations of the law targeting artist Quyen Linh and his family.
According to the document, on April 17, the Association received a request from Mr. Mai Huyen Linh, aka MC, artist Quyen Linh, Vice President of the Vietnam Cinema Association. Mr. Linh said that he and his family, including his two underage daughters, were being attacked by a number of individuals on social networking platforms such as Facebook and TikTok. "The individuals showed signs of violating the law when they intentionally edited old images of him to create connections to the fake milk advertisement that has been causing a stir in public opinion recently," Mr. Linh stated in the request.
These acts seriously violate the provisions of the Civil Code, the Penal Code, and the Law on Cyber Security, which strictly prohibit the fabrication of false evidence, slande.r, or the dissemination of false, unverified information. As a result, the honor, dignity, and reputation of artist Quyen Linh have been seriously violated, and have negatively affected his family life.
The Vietnam Cinema Association affirms that, with the responsibility to protect the legitimate rights of its members according to the approved Charter, the Association urgently requests A03 and A05 to consider and strictly handle the violating individuals. The identities of these individuals have been listed by artist Quyen Linh in the petition sent to the authorities and notified to the press and media agencies to avoid abetting the act of spreading false information.
"We welcome citizens to report illegal acts, but must follow legal procedures and limit the spread of false information if there is no official conclusion from the authorities," said a representative of the Association.
In addition to the two departments under the Ministry of Public Security, the document was also sent to the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Central Propaganda Department, the Central Mass Mobilization Department and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, calling for coordination in handling and protecting artists from violations in cyberspace.
On April 16, Quyen Linh affirmed that he was "completely unrelated" and did not promote or sell any products from the production line of 573 types of fake milk powder that was recently discovered. The actor said he was collecting evidence and making a record of the false content to send to the competent authorities.
In 2023, Quyen Linh also said that he was impersonated to promote a functional food that "cures diabetes from the root" using image manipulation.
