" Sing! Asia 2025" has officially ended, but the echoes of an impressive journey of Vietnam's representative, singer Phuong My Chi, still linger in the hearts of the audience.
Vietnam's mark in the final: From "Lac Troi" to the inspirational "Bo Dua"
At the final night, Phuong My Chi competed with strong opponents from China and Japan. She delivered two impressive performances, continuing to promote her strength in combining traditional culture with modern music.
In the first round, the four contestants were paired up to sing duets with guest artists. Phuong My Chi had a great collaboration with Hoang Linh, a famous Chinese singer. Together, they performed the hit "Lac Troi" by Son Tung M-TP, completely remixed. This performance not only won over the judges but also brought home the highest score of the first round: 202.8 points, helping My Chi advance straight to the solo round.
In the final round, Phuong My Chi surprised the audience by performing the song " Chopsticks ", a special composition by her and the DTAP production team exclusively for the show.
Judge Truong Luong Dinh, a famous diva, highly appreciated the meticulousness of the performance: "Phuong My Chi set herself a challenge by performing such a difficult song. I am very happy to hear this song in the final". Meanwhile, music producer Au Dinh Ngoc also expressed his admiration: "She did not come to compete but it was like she was performing a live show. Everything was perfect. If I were in Vietnam, I would definitely ask to be her producer".
However, it is regrettable that despite being highly appreciated, Phuong My Chi lost to her Chinese opponent Chu Phi Ca with a close score, stopping at 3rd place. The championship title belonged to Miyuna of Japan.
"Satisfied with everything": Confessions from the heart of an artist
After the final night, Phuong My Chi shared her emotions, expressing her satisfaction with the journey she had gone through. She choked up and said: "I tried very hard. If I hadn't participated in Sing! Asia, I wouldn't have had the performance Chopsticks. I feel satisfied with everything."
The singer also sent her sincere thanks to audiences at home and abroad through a video sharing two performances in the final night. "The moment 30 children in traditional costumes from Asian countries stood together on stage, harmonizing to a melody that was both familiar and new... is one of the memories that Chi will remember forever. Thank you Sing! Asia, thank you to the crew and everyone who created a beautiful memory with Chi," Phuong My Chi wrote.
She also talked about the meaning of the performance "Lac Troi": "With Lac Troi, Chi wants to bring the audience a feeling that is both familiar and new, when Vietnamese music is combined with Chinese. A little bit of exchange, a little bit of creativity and more is the connection between cultures".
These shares not only show her modesty but also her love and pride for music and national culture. Phuong My Chi has turned the pressure of the competition into motivation to create and shine.
Journey of transformation and affirmation of character
Before joining "Sing! Asia", Phuong My Chi was known as a "folk song girl" with a sweet, emotional voice. However, at this international playground, she has proven her strong transformation and versatility.
During nearly two months of accompanying the program, Phuong My Chi constantly renewed herself through each performance. She combined Vovinam martial arts in the song "Buon Trang", brought the traditional drum dance to the stage with the mashup "Ly Bac Bo", and even demonstrated her impressive rapping ability in the song "Vu Tru Co Anh".
The diversity in her performance style, her endless creativity and her stage presence helped Phuong My Chi conquer not only the judges but also millions of audiences across Asia. Although she stopped at the Top 3, she achieved a bigger goal: bringing Vietnamese culture closer to international friends and affirming her position as a talented, potential young artist of Vpop.
