Miyuna , considered Phuong My Chi's strongest opponent at CK Sing! Asia, is 'too scary', 'no one can beat her'. But few people know that to gain the recognition she has today from fans, Miyuna went through a past of hating herself.
In the second semi-final round, which will air on the evening of July 18, 8 contestants will compete 1:1 to select 4 people to enter the final round. Japanese contestant Miyuna will be the opening performer. Listening to her sing, judge Truong Luong Dinh "though he did not understand the language, his heart felt like it was tightening, the immersion overcoming the language barrier".
Su You Peng also had compliments for Miyuna: "You always bring performances that exceed my imagination. Your vocal expression is very precise."
After the performance, no one from the backstage wanted to challenge Miyuna. Kha Lau commented, "No one can beat her. If she doesn't go on, who will?"
Phuong My Chi said, "The performance was very attractive, charismatic and captivating. I have always loved Miyuna from the beginning of the show until now." The Vietnamese artist even admitted that she was "a bit cowardly" so she did not dare to challenge.
Born in 2002 in Japan, Miyuna began her musical career at the age of 16. She is known for her anime theme songs such as Gamushara and Tenjou Tenge for Black Clover, Boku to Kimi no Lullaby for Fairy Tail, and Yurareru for the film Blind Witness. Miyuna's musical style is influenced by J-pop, rock, jazz, and soul, and her distinctive husky voice, although at first this voice caused her difficulty in class, leading to early vocal training.
Miyuna broke her hip in high school, and during her treatment, she participated in a national singing competition and made it far, opening up opportunities to study vocal music and perform in Fukuoka. At the age of 17, she participated in major music festivals such as FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '19 - the largest rock festival in Asia.
Miyuna used to hate her own voice so much that she cried while singing, wondering why her voice was so strange, if only it were softer, wouldn't it be better. People also said her singing voice wasn't good.
She once wrote a song called Tanpopo to express her feelings of insignificance. Miyuna likened them to dandelion petals. The petals fly away in the blink of an eye, but if you don't have roots, you won't be able to endure hardships. It's a song of self-motivation, reminding her to do her best.
Miyuna is a multi-talented artist, from her personal melodies to her unique voice, she has built her own style in the JâPop / anime theme market. From the early days with online demos to big events like Fuji Rock and anime hits, she has continued to expand her activities and experiment with music.
At Sing! Asia, she was evaluated for her confident performance, full of energy, stage control and diverse musical colors. In the solo round, she performed introspective and individualistic songs such as Bong Bonh, Bat dung ca ca and Cho co gi da ma.
In the first semi-final, Miyuna combined with Chu Phi Ca to perform the medley "The Vast Sea and Sky" (Chinese - Japanese version) and Haruka Naru Yume Ni.
Leaked information from the set of the final round filmed on July 16 in China also suggests that Miyuna could be the eventual winner â if true, this would be the first time Japan has had a Sing! Asia champion with a strong indie feel, breaking the dominance of contestants from China.
Although the final results have not been officially announced until the final night on July 25, it is undeniable that Phuong My Chi is one of the rare Vietnamese representatives who has created a big buzz in a continental music scene.
For the Japanese representative or "Sister Bay of folk songs", participating in Sing! Asia has become a perfect opportunity for a transformation in her career journey. As for Phuong My Chi, she has become the symbol of "Miss Tam of the new era". Phuong My Chi's journey at Sing! Asia not only shows her maturity in voice and style, but also represents a generation of young Vietnamese artists who are confident and courageous in integrating internationally without losing their identity.
Phuong My Chi received 'bad news' before the 2nd semi-final of Sing! Asia, causing division among the judges? Bảo Yến16:45:44 14/07/2025To be fair, some viewers were disappointed with Phuong My Chi's top 3 achievement in the semi-final night of Sing! Asia 2025. They thought that the Vietnamese representative had not yet fully revealed her talent in the mashup Tuy Am - Luc Hai Vi Vuong.
